Nick Knowles watches Strictly Come Dancing on crutches as Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman issue statement on his absence from Movie Week
As a lifelong fan of DIY SOS and Strictly Come Dancing, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment for Nick Knowles missing out on this week’s Strictly. It seems that fate has dealt him a rather unfortunate hand, causing an injury just as the competition heats up.
Nick Knowles expressed his disappointment after learning that he wouldn’t be participating in Strictly Come Dancing, as he sat through the Saturday night performance while using crutches instead.
Nick Knowles, aged 62, didn’t participate in Movie Week, coming hot on the heels of speculation about his role on the program following an injury he sustained.
However, during the practice run of his Charleston dance on a Friday, Nick unfortunately tripped and hurt his knee while jumping, causing him to use crutches and seek an MRI scan at the hospital.
On X, he expressed: ‘Feeling disappointed I couldn’t join everyone dancing tonight, but I’m still dressed up and cheering them on from the couch!’
At the outset of the program, hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman informed viewers that due to a bye, duo Tess’ partner, Luba Mushtuk, would advance directly to the next phase of the competition.
“Tess mentioned that Nick Knowles and his partner Luba aren’t present because during the rehearsals, Nick got injured and can’t perform tonight.
Claudia added: ‘As per the rules of the competition, he will receive a bye into next week’s show.’
Apart from the entire team, Claudia conveyed her affection to Nick and expressed hope for his swift healing – an action that earned her a warm round of applause in return.
Additionally, Nick received an abundance of good wishes on his social media platforms as fans hurriedly posted get well soon messages for him.
One wrote: ‘Gutted for you – glad to see you supporting them! x’
Another said: ‘So sorry you’re not dancing tonight and I really hope your knee can heal in time to have you back next week.
‘We don’t want to lose you! You are looking very smart there!’
I apologize that you’re hurt and can’t dance right now. Get well soon, and my best wishes for a swift recovery.
This past week, a representative from Strictly Come Dancing informed TopMob that Nick Knowles suffered an injury during practice sessions, which means he won’t be dancing this coming weekend.
According to the contest rules, Nick and Luba are given an exemption and advance directly to next week’s competition, where we hope they can dance again soon. The entire Strictly Come Dancing community sends their best wishes for Nick’s swift recovery.
