Nexon has recently axed a Warhammer RPG, being developed by Thought Pennies
As a fervent enthusiast, I’ve learned from reliable sources like MP1st that an unexpected role-playing game based on Warhammer was recently shelved. This promising project was being crafted by Thought Pennies, a fresh studio boasting expertise in beloved franchises such as Star Wars and Final Fantasy.
Moreover, Eurogamer’s latest findings suggest that the game in question was built around the theme of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. As per the report, some developers parted ways with the studio post the game’s termination. The project was a joint venture between Nexon and Games Workshop.

A representative from Thought Pennies explained to Eurogamer that, “Although our collaboration was successful and we received valuable feedback from Nexon, Nexon decided on a strategic shift.” They also mentioned that, “Towards the end of last year, we mutually agreed to terminate the project, and Nexon is assisting us in this capacity as a board member.
The game was being planned for PC, consoles, and mobile platforms
As per a 2021 press statement, Nexon signed a deal with Games Workshop to create and distribute this game. The announcement described it as a multiplayer PvE title, suitable for social gaming, and intended for PC, console, and mobile devices. Interestingly, the developer Thought Pennies wasn’t mentioned in the release.
The game was designed to provide a dynamic, socially engaging player-versus-environment experience backed by Nexon’s top-tier live operations, ensuring continued enjoyment through regular updates and services.
I’m sorry that the project got scrapped. The concept was intriguing – it would have let us command the warlords under the Divine King Sigmar, working together to rekindle hope and establish order. Based on the information, we could gather characters with distinct abilities, histories, and gameplay mechanics, all while discovering new realms every season. It’s a pity we won’t get to witness its realization.
