The Sniper movie series, which began over thirty years ago, is still going strong! The twelfth film came out this year, and while it didn’t get much attention in theaters, it’s now gaining popularity thanks to streaming.
The action movie Sniper: No Nation premiered on April 7th and is now streaming on Netflix in many countries. It will be available to U.S. viewers on July 22nd. Before its U.S. release, the film has already become popular globally, reaching the number one spot in several countries (according to FlixPatrol). This success has boosted Sniper: No Nation to the number five spot on Netflix’s worldwide top 10 movie list, and it’s expected to climb higher once it’s available to audiences in the United States.
Sniper: No Nation Continues the Long-Running Franchise
Tom Berenger first played the character of Tom Beckett in the 1993 movie Sniper. While he’s appeared in some of the sequels over the years, he hasn’t been in the last three films. Now, he’s back as Beckett in Sniper: No Nation, reuniting with Chad Michael Collins who plays Beckett’s son, Brandon, in the series. Ryan Robbins, Josh Brener, and Manuel Rodriguez-Saenz also star in the new movie.
Trevor Calverley directed the film, based on a script by Sean Wathen. The story follows Brandon as his South American mission takes a disastrous turn, escalating into an international crisis. As a result, the U.S. government denies any connection to Brandon’s team – Global Response & Intelligence Team (G.R.I.T.) – and wrongly accuses them of terrorism. When those who survived the failed mission are captured, Brandon teams up with his father, Tom (Berenger), and experienced agent Agent Zero (Robbins) for a secret operation to rescue them.
Sniper Is Still Going Strong 33 Years Later
The Sniper movie series began in 1993 with the first film. After a period of inactivity following Sniper 2 (2002) and Sniper 3 (2004), the franchise returned in 2011 with Sniper: Reloaded. Since then, there have been several more sequels, including Sniper: Legacy (2014), Sniper: Ghost Shooter (2016), Sniper: Ultimate Kill (2017), Sniper: Assassin’s End (2020), Sniper: G.R.I.T. – Global Response & Intelligence Team (2023), and the upcoming Sniper: The Last Stand (2025).
According to Digital Journal, Collins believes audiences will enjoy the latest installment in the Sniper franchise, and be pleasantly surprised by it. He’s especially excited about the return of Tom Berenger, who originated the role in 1993 and plays his father in the film. Collins feels Berenger’s presence alone is a good reason to watch, adding that they’ve shared many on-screen adventures together.
Sniper: No Nation will start streaming on Netflix in the U.S. on July 22, 2026.
