The World Cup Final took place tonight at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, with Argentina and Spain battling for the championship. The first half ended with a scoreless tie, but the crowd – which included celebrities like DJ Pharrell Williams, actor Will Ferrell, and Matt Damon – was in for an exciting second half.
When the players headed to the locker rooms for a break and to hear from their coaches – Lionel Scaloni of Argentina and Luis de la Fuente of Spain – Madonna kicked off the halftime show with her song “Music.” She was joined by Brazilian football stars Ronaldinho and Ronaldo, along with KPop group BTS and characters from the Muppets. Shakira also performed “Dai Dai,” the official song of the World Cup.

Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, stars of Ted Lasso, appeared briefly to introduce Justin Bieber, and the audience loved it. The show ended with a performance celebrating love, featuring Britain’s Got Talent finalists the Ghetto Kids alongside beloved characters like Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, and Count von Count from Sesame Street.

Viewers praised the FIFA World Cup halftime show, with one person declaring it better than recent Super Bowl performances. BTS fans were especially enthusiastic about the band’s appearance, jokingly claiming they had already “won” the 2026 World Cup. Another fan simply gave the show a perfect score, saying “10/10!”
