Stranger Things is back with a bang.
For nearly ten years, Stranger Things was Netflix’s most popular show. The sci-fi horror series concluded with the release of its fifth season finale on December 31, 2025, marking a significant event for the streaming service. Although the main series has finished, Netflix is developing several spin-off shows, with one hinted at during the final season. Now, the first of these spin-offs has premiered just months after Stranger Things ended, and it’s already proving to be successful.
The new animated series, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, has earned a solid 83% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, according to early reviews. While positive, this score is surprisingly close to the lowest rating ever received by the original Stranger Things series – season 5, which earned 82% based on a much larger number of reviews (161). This highlights just how critically acclaimed the original show has been overall.
