Slipknot members have been hinting at a new album by a side project called Look Outside Your Window. A limited version of that album will be released on Record Store Day, which is Saturday, April 18th. Just to be clear, this is a separate project and not a new Slipknot album.
The band Look Outside Your Window (not the greatest name, admittedly) is actually comprised of members from Slipknot: Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Jim Root, and M. Shawn Crahan. Because of this, their new album sounds very much like a Slipknot record.
These songs were recorded during the 2008 sessions for Slipknot’s album, All Hope Is Gone, but weren’t released at the time. The band created them alongside the tracks for that album, and now, 18 years later, they’re being released as a limited-edition record, likely only available for Record Store Day.
Slipknot members redressed as Look Outside You Window about to drop new album
I’m genuinely excited about this new release, no matter what. Whether it’s from Slipknot or Look Outside Your Window, it’s bound to be amazing. Slipknot has consistently delivered incredible metal, and I expect this record, coming out on April 18th, will be no different – it’s sure to be excellent.
Basically, you’d have to locate a record store near you that has the album and then wait in line to buy it – if you can even find a copy!
Slipknot fans are eager to hear the album “Look Outside Your Window,” and it will likely be available on streaming services eventually, judging by the positive feedback it’s already received.
Reports and interviews suggest the new album will be a departure from Slipknot’s usual sound, leaning more towards the styles of Pink Floyd and Radiohead. This indicates a slower, more atmospheric and experimental direction for the former Slipknot members. It seems the songs didn’t quite fit the band’s established style, leading them to create something entirely new.
If the album is well-made, fans will likely enjoy it. Hopefully, it won’t be controversial or overly negative like previous work.
