These designs feature artwork by Ochiai, titled “Computer Nature Anti-Real Virtual: Null Variations Flow,” and are created using the traditional Japanese technique of tenugui fabric dyeing. The project blends technology, art, and Japanese craftsmanship, as part of New Era’s ongoing Kyoto initiative which connects international brands with Japan’s cultural heritage.
The collection features a graphic T-shirt and a 59FIFTY Cap, both made with traditional Japanese tenugui fabric. Each cap is one-of-a-kind, crafted from a single piece of cloth. The T-shirt is a relaxed, short-sleeved style with a striking tenugui design on the back. Both pieces showcase flowing, abstract patterns inspired by the artist Ochiai’s reflections on life and nothingness, brought to life through classic dyeing and cutting techniques.
The collection will be available starting May 13th on the New Era Japan online store and at select New Era flagship stores. Prices will range from ¥6,050 to ¥11,000 (about $40 to $75 USD).
