BBC has released a previously unseen photo of Britney Spears as a teaser for their new documentary, Britney: In Ten Pictures, which is available to watch starting today.
The broadcaster revealed the photo was taken by Lisa Means, who photographed Britney Spears in her hometown just a week before her debut album came out. The pictures were described as personal and close-up.
The photo was taken in Kentwood in January of that year, and People magazine hired photographer Means to take it. The BBC reports that although some photos from the shoot were released publicly, this particular one was never seen in print.
In the documentary, Means revealed that he photographed Britney Spears for the very first photoshoot in her home while working for People magazine.
Many photographers will go to great lengths for a great picture, but I prefer to be respectful and polite. I think that’s why the Spears family was so kind and let me into their home.

Means explained that they all went to the local drive-in for ice cream. Getting the photos was a bit difficult because she had to ride in the back of the truck, squeezed in tight.
