In a turn of events that might leave even a Drones Club member scratching his head, a U.S. District Court in Nevada has, with all the aplomb of a well-practiced ruse, granted Kalshi a preliminary injunction. One could say that Nevada’s obstinate efforts to curtail the crypto-based prediction market have been parked—if only temporarily—as if someone had interrupted a particularly tedious game of golf. 😏
This clever ruling permits Kalshi to carry on offering its sports event contracts in Nevada, all the while its legal challenge against the state ambles along like a leisurely promenade in a country manor.
In the midst of this legal fandango, the Federal Court in Nevada rendered a decision as crisp as a freshly pressed waistcoat, halting the state’s attempts to bar Kalshi’s prediction markets. One might even say the court’s judgment was as sharply executed as a well-timed quip in the Drones Club.
We are ever so grateful for the court’s scrupulous attention and acknowledgement of our distinguished status…

Judge Andrew P. Gordon, a man of considerable legal finesse, delivered his decision on Tuesday, siding partly with our intrepid Kalshi in their spirited lawsuit against Nevada’s famed cease-and-desist order. 😜
Meanwhile, the Nevada Gaming Commission’s rather impetuous request for a restraining order to instantly shut down Kalshi’s sports ventures was summarily dismissed—almost as dismissively as one would shoo away an overly enthusiastic valet.
A more detailed written ruling is expected to appear later, much like a serialized chapter in one’s favourite humorous novel.
Kalshi, that plucky outfit regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), had previously outfoxed the CFTC in a spirited legal tussle over the right to list political event contracts. Not one to rest on its laurels, it has since gallivanted into the realm of sports prediction, dabbling in Super Bowl anticipations and March Madness prognostications—in cahoots with Robinhood, no less!
Alas, as though straight from one of those absurd operettas, Kalshi now finds itself beset by legal challenges from states claiming that it, along with partners like Robinhood and Crypto.com, is peddling unlicensed gambling escapades. In response, Kalshi—ever the doughty protagonist—has taken the matter to federal court against Nevada and New Jersey.
In a statement as brisk and bubbly as a freshly popped cork, the company proclaimed, “Today, the Federal Court in Nevada granted our preliminary injunction and thwarted the State’s audacious bid to prevent us from offering prediction markets.”
And not to be outdone in the art of graciousness, co-founder Tarek Mansour extended his thanks to the court via X, citing Kalshi’s impeccable regulatory status—a remark likely to raise more than a few proverbial eyebrows. 😉
