The upcoming season 3 of Netflix’s live-action One Piece might not include a large battle scene. The season’s storyline will primarily focus on Alabasta, a significant desert kingdom within the show, which is currently embroiled in a civil war. Nefertari Vivi, a character introduced in season 2, is working to resolve this conflict.

At the end of One Piece season 2, Luffy and the Straw Hat crew promised to help Vivi. This sets the stage for season 3, which will likely focus on a major conflict. A civil war is brewing in Vivi’s kingdom due to the schemes of the villainous Baroque Works, so season 3 is expected to be filled with intense battles and exciting action.

However, a significant moment from the original One Piece manga might be altered, as a comparable fight scene is being developed for the second season of Netflix’s live-action adaptation.

It Doesn’t Look Like Usopp & Chopper’s “Baseball” Fight Will Happen In One Piece Season 3

The battle pits Usopp and Chopper against Mr. 4 and Miss Merry Christmas, two members of Baroque Works. Mr. 4’s main weapon is a four-ton baseball bat he uses to launch explosive ‘baseball bombs’ at his opponents. This is a key element of their fight, but the upcoming Netflix adaptation of One Piece might present it differently.

This situation stems from a fight that was mentioned but not animated in season 2 of One Piece. Specifically, in episode 6, Smoker and Tashigi arrive at a Marine base that was damaged by Baroque Works and meet Mr. 11 and Miss Thursday.

Because this battle wasn’t part of the original anime, the Netflix version of One Piece was free to create new skills for the characters. In this case, Miss Thursday fought using baseballs before losing to Smoker. These powers are similar to what should have been Mr. 4’s abilities, which means season 3 of the show might have some unexpected changes.

It’s possible Usopp and Chopper won’t even battle Mr. 4 and Miss Merry Christmas. If they do, the fight will probably be different from the Smoker versus Miss Thursday scene in the anime’s second season. Regardless, a significant battle from the original One Piece story is expected to be altered in the new Netflix live-action series.

One Piece Reworking The Baseball Fight For Live-Action Might Be A Good Idea

Changing a major fight scene from the original anime and manga might upset some fans, but it could actually be a smart move for the live-action One Piece adaptation. This fight is a standout moment in the Alabasta storyline – it’s known for being intense, showing great teamwork between Chopper and Usopp, and having a lot of heart.

Because of this, the fight scene feels necessary, but the live-action adaptation has a chance to portray it with more weight and seriousness than the anime version. Some elements that worked well in the original One Piece might not come across as strongly in live-action. For example, the baseball fight in season 2 of the anime was enjoyable and funny, but it didn’t feel like a truly dangerous situation.

Repeating a similar scene during a key fight in One Piece season 3 could reduce the tension and emotional impact for two important Straw Hat characters. To avoid this, changing the scene from the season 2 fight – perhaps by giving Mr. 4 slightly stronger and more threatening abilities – could make this important action sequence even more effective.
