Netflix is removing Nicole Kidman’s “intriguingly twisty” and “suspenseful” thriller very soon

Don’t miss your chance to watch the thriller Before I Go To Sleep, starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth! It’s leaving Netflix this week. The 2014 film is based on the popular novel by S.J. Watson and was directed by Rowan Joffé.

In the thriller Before I Go To Sleep, Nicole Kidman plays Christine Lucas, a woman who suffers from amnesia and wakes up each day unsure of her life and the identity of the man she believes to be her husband. The film also features Mark Strong and Anne-Marie Duff.

Colin Firth’s character, Ben, shares that Christine suffered an accident which caused her to lose her memories from when she was in her early twenties.

Christine is trying to recover her lost memories, and she believes an attack is responsible. But as the movie suggests, things aren’t what they appear, and Christine needs to be careful.

Mark Strong plays Dr. Mike Nash, Christine’s neuropsychologist, and Ciaran Hinds appears as Claire, an old friend of the main character.

If you enjoy thrillers with surprising, though somewhat unbelievable, plot twists, you can watch Before I Go To Sleep on Netflix UK until February 7th.

The thriller only received a 36% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but the strong performances from Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth could make it worth watching for a cozy night in, despite its far-fetched story.

Reviewers have praised the film as a surprisingly effective thriller. According to the AV Club, Before I Go To Sleep manages to create suspense and keep viewers engaged despite starting with a far-fetched idea.

The Los Angeles Times reviewed Before I Go to Sleep, calling it a well-made and sometimes cleverly plotted thriller, but ultimately feeling like a story audiences have seen before.

NPR wasn’t kind to the poorly made film, playfully suggesting that Nicole Kidman would hopefully forget it as quickly as audiences do.

Although we don’t know what Nicole Kidman thinks now, back in 2014, she told Harper’s Bazaar UK how much she enjoyed Emma Watson’s book. She read it quickly as part of her summer reading and was then interested in the movie because of its intriguing and surprising plot.
