Nearly two years after initial allegations of sexual assault surfaced, the author is addressing the claims again. Several women have accused them of misconduct.
Neil Gaiman, the author of several popular novels that have become TV shows and movies – including Netflix’s The Sandman and Prime Video’s Good Omens – recently spoke out against what he called a “smear campaign” targeting him. He stated that evidence supporting his claims was overlooked, and he used the opportunity to announce a new project. Both The Sandman and Good Omens had their runs cut short by their respective streaming services.
Following accusations of sexual assault by two women who had consensual relationships with him, Neil Gaiman’s career faced immediate setbacks. Disney paused their ongoing work with him, and the third season of Good Omens was reworked into a concluding movie, which is still awaiting release.
However, the show’s creator maintained that this was the original intention and wasn’t influenced by the author’s recent controversy.
In February 2025, a woman filed a lawsuit against Neil Gaiman, claiming he and his ex-partner, Amanda Palmer, were abusive. Gaiman strongly denied these claims, stating that any interactions were mutually agreed upon. He called the accusations false and described the woman as someone who had invented a story of abuse against both him and Palmer.
I was really saddened to see the statement my favorite actor posted on Instagram. He thanked everyone for sticking by him, but also talked about how damaging a smear campaign can be – he said he’s seen it happen firsthand. He was adamant that the accusations against him weren’t true at all, and that he has emails, texts, and even video proof to back up his side of the story.
He stated that the claims were widely publicized by the media simply to attract attention, without regard for their truthfulness, and insisted that the claims were false.
The popular author said he expected journalists to consider the substantial evidence supporting his arguments, but he felt they instead overlooked or disregarded it.
Neil Gaiman Teased a New Project Is on the Way
Look, I’ve been following this whole situation, and it was good to see him address everything directly. He didn’t just try to brush things under the rug with a statement; he really explained what’s been going on. Honestly, I was relieved to hear he hadn’t been completely consumed by it all. He described the last year and a half as pretty rough – ‘strange, turbulent, and occasionally nightmarish’ were his words – but thankfully, he found solace in doing what he loves: writing. As a huge fan, that’s just what I wanted to hear.
He described starting a project he thought would be relatively small, but it unexpectedly became his most ambitious work since American Gods. It’s already longer than The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and he’s still in the early stages of completing it.
The author acknowledged that things are difficult right now, but remains optimistic about the goodness of people. He expressed deep gratitude to his fans, saying their support has been incredibly meaningful to him.
We don’t know the details of his latest project yet, but fans are eagerly awaiting news about a potential continuation of the series. The official social media has been hinting at something for over two weeks, but Prime Video hasn’t officially announced a final movie.
