In April 2024, rapper YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, was accused of leading a scheme to illegally get prescription drugs from pharmacies in Utah with the help of several others. Later that year, in November, he accepted a plea deal and admitted guilt to charges including identity theft, forgery, and improper pharmacy practices, which allowed him to avoid going to jail.

Shortly after, a Utah judge sentenced him to two years in jail for gun-related charges.

President Trump pardoned rapper Gaulden last year. Gaulden expressed his gratitude, saying the pardon would allow him to continue growing as a person, father, and artist, and to pursue the future he’s been striving for.
