NASCAR: Two drivers tied with Kyle Larson as championship favorites
As a seasoned NASCAR enthusiast with over two decades of racing fervor under my belt, I can confidently say that this year’s Cup Series is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling yet! With Kyle Larson leading the pack and three other drivers – Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, and William Byron – all co-favorites to clinch the championship, it’s a nail-biting race to the finish.
In the initial 22 races of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series, Kyle Larson from Hendrick Motorsports is ahead of all other drivers with a total of four wins to his name. Remarkably, he achieved this despite skipping the Coca-Cola 600 race held in May at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
In simpler terms, since Larson received a playoff waiver, his absence doesn’t affect the number of games he needs to play in order to be eligible for the playoffs.
Due to his winning streak at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Kansas Speedway, Sonoma Raceway, and more recently Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the present front-runner and 2021 champion has already secured a spot in the playoffs.
However, it’s important to note that Larson isn’t the sole driver tipped as a potential champion at FanDuel Sportsbook this year. Interestingly, there are two more drivers who share the same odds as him.
Three drivers co-favorites to win 2024 NASCAR Cup Series championship
As a seasoned NASCAR fan with years of following the sport and its teams, I firmly believe that Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell from Larson and Joe Gibbs Racing are strong contenders for this year’s championship. Having closely watched both drivers in their careers, I can attest to their skill, determination, and consistency on the track. With odds of +450 (bet $100 to win $550), these numbers reflect the high probability of either Hamlin or Bell bringing home the coveted trophy this season. It’s an exciting time for NASCAR fans as we eagerly await the unfolding of the championship race and root for our favorites!
Hamlin and Bell are both enjoying success this season with three victories each. They currently hold fourth and eighth positions in the overall points ranking.
In simpler terms, William Byron from Hendrick Motorsports, who has won three races this season and is the second most successful driver after Kyle Larson, is ranked fourth in odds to win at +600. Ryan Blaney of Team Penske, the only other multiple winner this year, comes third with odds of +800. Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott completes the top six contenders with odds of +1000.
As a passionate user, I want to share that the odds get updated regularly and may vary over time. If you or anyone close to you struggles with gambling, remember there’s help available at 1-800-GAMBLER.
NASCAR is taking a three-week summer hiatus, as NBC focuses on broadcasting the Summer Olympics in Paris, France. The Cup Series will resume racing at Richmond Raceway on August 11 with the Cook Out 400, and coverage will air live on USA Network from 6:00 p.m. ET.
