Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, and Ludi Lin are back for another installment, and Karl Urban, known for his role in The Boys, is joining the cast as the famous video game character Johnny Cage.

Riverdale‘s Adeline Rudolph also joins the cast as Kitana, as well as You‘s Tati Gabrielle as Jade.

The Mortal Kombat II movie is a fun, energetic adaptation that really captures the feel of the arcade game, even if the story isn’t perfect. While it doesn’t quite deliver on its potential at key moments, the action – especially Liu Kang’s fight – is fantastic, and the movie relies heavily on pleasing longtime fans.

Ash Crossan shared his excitement about Mortal Kombat II, calling it incredibly fun, funny, and over-the-top violent. He particularly praised Kitana as the emotional center of the game, and Johnny and Kano for their comedic timing. He described it as fast-paced and filled with clever nods to other media, adding that while he enjoyed the first game, this sequel is even better.

Chris Killian felt the sequel was a significant step up from the original, praising its enhanced fight scenes, more stylish costumes, and more gruesome finishing moves.

He described the movie as delightfully over-the-top and incredibly gory, but a really fun experience. He believes this new Mortal Kombat movie is the most true to the source material yet.

Bill Bria agreed with Killian, stating the sequel was the most faithful adaptation of the games to date.

Bria described the fights as intense and full of emotion. She especially praised Karl Urban’s portrayal of Johnny Cage, calling it a fun tribute to action heroes from the 1990s, and highlighted Adeline Rudolph’s Kitana as the best heroine in the series. Overall, she said the movie is a very enjoyable experience.
