Layla Taylor, known from the show Mormon Wives, has spoken openly about her struggle with an eating disorder, which caused her weight to drop to just 99 pounds at its worst.
The 25-year-old reality TV star, who has dealt with weight issues since her teens, recently revealed she had been taking weight-loss medications, but has since stopped using them.
The Victoria’s Secret model shared on Instagram that she was receiving necessary medical care.
Taylor revealed in a recent post that she’s been privately battling an eating disorder she thought she overcame years ago in high school.
In the accompanying video, the influencer looked very slender in colorful bikinis.
She also noted her issues with her eating disorder go back almost a decade.
‘Far before I touched [GLP-1 medications] I’ve had my struggles,’ said the star.
Dealing with this has been incredibly draining and isolating. I’ve been struggling internally while also trying to appear fine, and constant comments about my appearance have only made things harder. My journey to get better hasn’t been easy or straightforward – it’s been a bumpy process with setbacks along the way.
Taylor also admitted that some days she feels strong, and others she ‘feels really heavy.’
She recently turned heads at the premiere of the latest season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
She also shared that she’s no longer taking her GLP-1 medication. In a post, she explained she’s working on prioritizing self-acceptance instead of being self-critical.
Taylor admitted that even watching the video of her body transformation is difficult, but she remains determined to keep fighting—not only for her own well-being, but also to be a healthy and engaged mother to her sons.
She shared photos showing her progress, and expressed gratitude for the support she received during a difficult period.
She also revealed on her reality TV show that a modeling agency had rejected her, which was another setback.
The rejection made her feel that ‘something is wrong with me that they didn’t choose me.’
She confessed to her friends that she’d been really battling with self-doubt lately, explaining it came from a long-held feeling of inadequacy.
The pressure to make it as a model has been hard on her, she also shared.
She confessed she previously struggled with anorexia. ‘I was nineteen when I found out I was pregnant with my first son. Having a baby inside me meant I needed to take care of myself, and I felt like I started to recover,’ Taylor explained.
I was okay while I was pregnant the second time, but after my ex and I split up, I started struggling with those negative patterns again.
Taylor weighed just 99 pounds, and confessed to her friends that she never felt thin enough, no matter what the scale said.
She started weight loss drugs.
She started using them because she struggled to lose weight. She explained that people don’t realize how addictive these products are and how difficult it is to stop. It’s a constant, negative pressure, and she feels it’s particularly strong in Utah, where people are very focused on their appearance.
She’s spoken about her body before, including a discussion of body dysmorphia during season three of the show Mormon Wives.
Taylor explained to Demi Engemann that she’s always been naturally thin and isn’t worried about current concerns, as she’s been small her whole life.
Engemann wondered if she still occasionally struggled with how she saw her own body.
“Absolutely,” Layla said. “It’s upsetting because when people mention I used to be a healthy weight, the word ‘healthy’ actually really bothers me, since I struggle with an eating disorder.”
Filming for season five of ‘Mormon Wives’ has been temporarily put on hold. According to a source who spoke with People magazine, Taylor Frankie Paul is dealing with some significant personal issues related to her past, and production will resume once those are resolved.
If you or someone you care about is dealing with an eating disorder, help is available. The Alliance for Eating Disorders offers a helpline staffed by trained professionals at 1-866-662-1235, and they also provide free support groups led by therapists.
