MoonPay Expands US Crypto Access With Discover Network

MoonPay Expands US Crypto Access With Discover Network

  • MoonPay adds Discover, expanding U.S. crypto payments beyond Visa and Mastercard.
  • Eligible Discover cardholders can buy and sell thousands of supported cryptocurrencies.
  • Issuing banks still decide whether Discover cards can complete crypto transactions.

MoonPay now lets people in the US use their Discover cards to easily buy and sell cryptocurrencies. This addition makes Discover the third major card network – alongside Visa and Mastercard – supported on MoonPay, giving users even more ways to access thousands of digital assets.

Discover Strengthens MoonPay’s Crypto Payment Network

MoonPay now lets U.S. customers use their Discover cards to buy and sell cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more. This addition expands payment options for those looking to get into digital assets.

I’m really excited to see that Discover cards are now accepted on this platform! It puts them in the same league as Visa and Mastercard, which means more ways for people – including me – to buy crypto.

MoonPay lets you pay for crypto in lots of different ways – including Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Venmo, direct bank transfer, and various local options.

MoonPay Adds Discover Network Cards For US Crypto Purchases

MoonPay has added support for Discover credit and debit cards, allowing people in the US to easily buy cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin ($BTC), Ethereum ($ETH), Binance Coin ($BNB), Ripple ($XRP), Solana ($SOL), Tron ($TRX), HYPE ($HYPE), and Zcash ($ZEC) using their Discover card.

Even though MoonPay accepts Discover cards, whether a customer can actually use their card to buy cryptocurrency ultimately depends on their bank’s policies. Each bank decides if it allows these types of purchases with its cards.

According to Richard Harrison, VP of Banking and Payments Partnerships at MoonPay, offering more ways to pay makes it easier for people to buy what they want. MoonPay’s main focus is to let customers buy digital assets using payment methods they already know and trust.

This new feature lets businesses using MoonPay easily accept Discover payments without needing to make any changes to their systems.

Partnership Expands Traditional Payment Access to Digital Assets

Discover hasn’t been as involved in cryptocurrency as companies like Visa and Mastercard, who have already teamed up with many exchanges, payment services, and stablecoin projects. That’s why their new partnership with MoonPay is a significant step for Discover into the world of digital asset payments.

Even though most places accept Discover, whether a transaction goes through still depends on the cardholder’s bank and its own rules regarding fraud prevention, legal requirements, and risk management. This means that two Discover cardholders might experience different results for the same purchase.

MoonPay launched in 2019 and has quickly become a major player in the crypto world, providing payment solutions for a wide range of businesses. They currently serve over 30 million users in 180 countries and work with more than 500 companies, including cryptocurrency exchanges, digital wallets, and other financial technology platforms.

MoonPay now offers more than just payment processing; they’ve broadened their services with AI technology built for blockchain networks.

Earlier this year, the company launched MoonPay Agents, which allow AI programs to independently create and manage their own digital wallets and make transactions on the blockchain.

This new feature for Discover card users is part of MoonPay’s plan to make buying crypto easier using traditional payment methods. While not all purchases will be approved, it gives millions of Discover cardholders a secure and compliant way to enter the cryptocurrency market.
