Monster Hunter’s food looks so tasty it’s apparently driving up demand for cheese naan in Japan
As a devoted Monster Hunter Worlds enthusiast, I can’t help but feel my stomach rumble not over the latest powerful weapon or armor set, but rather over the tantalizing prospect of cheese.
At the outset of Capcom’s latest action RPG, your characters partake in a meal at Kunafa Village, famed for its mouthwatering cheese. They place this cheese on bread and toast it, giving it a resemblance to the Nepali-Japanese dish known as cheese naan. It seems that the game’s depiction of this oozy treat has sparked a rise in sales of the genuine article.
Some passionate Japanese gamers couldn’t resist sharing their craving and affection for the tasty cheese bread from Monster Hunter, a popular dish found in Nepalese eateries across Japan, as reported by Automaton Media on social media.
Over the Wilds’ launch weekend, I noticed plenty of fellow gamers posting about their snack choices, many of which they linked back to our gaming world.
It appears that a Japanese restaurant in Tokyo specializing in Nepalese cuisine, named Salam Namaste Tokyo, is experiencing quite the buzz over its Monster Hunter-themed cheese naan. By sharing a video of workers at fast food joints reacting to an enormous order just before closing (99 Bacon Double Quarter Pounders video), they seem to be hinting at an overwhelming influx of customers asking for their popular cheese naan dish.
Later on, the restaurant expressed gratitude towards Capcom for launching a game that significantly increased their sales. As a matter of fact, they are hosting a Cheese Naan Festival this coming weekend to commemorate the occasion. (If you plan to attend this Cheese Naan Festival, don’t forget to share your experience with us!)
Despite the persistent challenges related to PC performance, PC Gamer recently bestowed an impressive 85% rating on Monster Hunter Rise, with critic Lincoln Carpenter describing it as “a standout action game with no real competition in its league.
In simpler terms, “Wilds marks a fresh chapter for Monster Hunter, where anything that doesn’t lead to immediate combat with monsters larger than you is removed. It’s quite an innovative transformation,” he expressed. If there’s a term for Wilds, it would be ‘simplified’.
