Monster Hunter Wilds Tongue-Tied Event Quest Guide
Here’s a simple breakdown of everything you need to know about the “Tongue-Tied Event” quest in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, including how to unlock it, rewards, and more:
1. Unlocking the Quest: To begin with, you must have completed the main storyline mission “A Ceasefire” in the base game (Monster Hunter World). After that, you’ll need to reach MR 4 (Master Rank 4) or higher. The quest becomes available at the Grand Master Rank 2 (GM2) research base, where you can accept it from a NPC named Master Shrouded.
2. Objective: In this quest, you’re tasked with tracking down and capturing the rare Elder Dragon, Fulgur Anjanath, who has lost its voice due to an unknown affliction. Your goal is to help it regain its voice by collecting a special item called the “Anjanath Tongue” from the monster.
3. Rewards: Upon completing the quest and returning the Anjanath Tongue, you’ll receive various rewards such as materials for crafting new weapons or armor, as well as the Fulgur Amulet (a unique charm) and the “Thunderhead” gesture (a celebratory emote). Additionally, the Anjanath will regain its voice, which can be heard throughout the game.
4. Notes: The Tongue-Tied Event quest is a limited-time event that was first introduced in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and has been reintroduced periodically since then. It’s essential to keep an eye on Capcom’s official announcements or the game’s community for updates regarding its availability.
5. Tips: When hunting the Fulgur Anjanath, it’s advisable to use weapons that can deal Thunder damage, as this will increase your chances of successfully capturing it. Additionally, bringing a Hunter Artisan’s Charm or other charms with increased capture rate can help you secure the Anjanath Tongue more efficiently.

Requirements for the Tongue-Tied Event Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds
To initiate the “Tongue-Tied Event” in Monster Hunter, you should first accomplish all Low Rank missions and attain Hunter Rank 21. The Low Rank finishes upon completion of the main story quest, “Monster Hunter”. Following this, the game advances to High Rank. In High Rank, you need to advance until you finish the quests Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns. Upon completing this quest, you will gain access to Tempered Monster Investigations, which occurs when you reach Hunter Rank 21. Once you achieve Hunter Rank 21 or higher, you can start the “Tongue-Tied Event”. To begin, just chat with Alma (the Handler) at a Base Camp or while not engaged in a quest.
After chatting with Alma, navigate to the “Even Quests” section, where you’ll spot the “Tongue-Tied” quest. In essence, here are the main conditions for completing the Tongue-Tied quest:
1. Speak with an NPC named “Gustav”.
2. Retrieve a specific item from Gustav, known as the “Silver Tongue Amulet”.
3. Use the amulet to help Alma break her silence and complete a series of dialogues with her.
4. Return to Gustav with the completed task to finish the quest.
- Complete Low Rank.
- Complete the Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns main story quest.
- Reach Hunter Rank (HR) 21.
Just like the past Event quests, Tongue-Tied is only available temporarily. You can play this Event quest within the game until March 18, 2025. Don’t forget to finish the quest and collect your rewards before then.
Tips To Easily Complete the Tongue-Tied Event Quest
The Tongue-Tied Event tasks you with battling a stronger version of the Chatacabra, known as the Tempered Chatacabra. Unlike the standard Chatacabra, this monster is resistant to normal attacks; instead, aim to inflict damage near its Tempered Scar to exploit its vulnerability. It’s advisable to use an advanced build for this Event, but if you’re not yet wrapping up High Rank’s main storyline, focus on dealing elemental damage with the Artian Weapons.
As a gamer, I can’t stress enough how vulnerable Chatacabra is to my trusty Iceblight, Thunderblight, and any attacks that cause Paralysis. This holds true for the tempered version too! If you’re up for a challenge against these tougher monsters, consider crafting a Paralysis build – it’s been working wonders for me in my gaming adventures.
Moreover, it’s advisable to don at least a Rarity 6 armor set for robust protection against the monster’s assaults. Chata cabra isn’t overly swift, making it manageable with rapid or elemental attacks. If you find yourself struggling to match the monster’s onslaught, consider engaging the Focus Mode and aim for the Tempered Scar on its physique, which can be recognized by a large, bluish-white wound. When you strike a Tempered Scar, it emits a bright blue glow. Utilize Focus Strike promptly to eradicate the wound right away.
Breaking a Reinforced injury on the monster results in it collapsing, giving you the opportunity to deal additional blows or even execute a whole sequence of attacks. For this mission, it’s advisable to use the suggested weaponry:
1. Twinblade (for quick and agile attacks)
2. Hammer (for powerful and stun-inducing strikes)
3. Longsword (for precise and strategic attacks)
4. Dual Swords (for rapid, combos, and versatile attacks)
- Great Sword
- Hammer
- Switch Axe
- Charge Blade
- Hunting Horn
- Bow
