Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 port could be real, or at least that’s what dataminers believe

The Nintendo Switch 2 is already gaining a strong collection of games from other developers, but many recent, large-scale titles seem too demanding for the system. Surprisingly, Capcom might be working to bring last year’s Monster Hunter Wilds to the Switch 2.

Capcom has publicly stated they’re excited about the upcoming Switch 2, and several major games like Resident Evil Requiem, Monster Hunter Stories 3, and Pragmata are planned to release on it the same day they come out elsewhere. While it would likely be profitable for Capcom to also bring Monster Hunter Wilds to the Switch 2, the game is still facing technical difficulties, and Capcom isn’t expecting to fix these issues until about a year after its initial release, which is a potential worry.

Recent discoveries by data miners, reported by VGC, suggest that a Nintendo console version of the game is in development. The mined data indicates support for local multiplayer and hints that the game could run at a stable 30 frames per second using the console’s DLSS technology.

After the successful releases of Street Fighter 6 and Kunitsu-Gami last year, this new adaptation of a popular Capcom game presents a bigger challenge. Because it’s an open-world game and requires powerful computers to run smoothly, some people are understandably worried about how well it will perform.

This news might mean Capcom is shifting away from initially releasing smaller Monster Hunter games on Nintendo consoles, which would be a letdown for many fans. The success of Monster Hunter Rise on Switch – and its later release on other platforms – suggested Capcom might create another game specifically for the new Switch 2. Hopefully, we’ll get versions for both platforms!

Currently, Monster Hunter Wilds players are finishing up the latest major update and hoping for better performance. After those improvements are released, the developers might announce the expansion pack that will add more challenging content for experienced players. There’s also speculation about a version for the new Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s possible that announcement could come at the same time, but we’ll need to wait for official confirmation.
