At its presentation on March 25th, Capcom hinted that a beloved monster from Monster Hunter World will make a comeback in its second title update, set to arrive this summer.
Towards the close of the video, you can catch a brief glimpse of the distinctive long, sharp claws belonging to the Lagiacrus. Originating from Monster Hunter 3, this colossal Leviathan has been a beloved creature by many fans, securing third place in Monster Hunter’s 20th anniversary poll for the most preferred monster among hunters.

In past games of this series, the character Lagiacrus was primarily found underwater, making its presence hinted whenever aquatic sounds were heard. With the upcoming second title update arriving in Summer 2025, fans are eagerly anticipating a return to the unique combat style associated with Lagiacrus when encountering it underwater once more.
Since Monster Hunter 3 (or Tri), no game in the series has included underwater combat. As a result, Lagiacrus, which made its debut in that game, hasn’t been given much attention. However, the teaser for the new game, Wilds, has left Hunters excited to learn where and how this creature might appear within the game.

In Monster Hunter World and Rise, it was initially planned that Lagiacrus would make a comeback, but Capcom encountered problems related to the design of its skeleton in the game-building engines they were using.
Capcom unveiled details for the initial update of Monster Hunter Wilds, along with a special event called Blossomdance that will only be available for a set duration. During this event, the recently introduced Grand Hub region undergoes a transformation.
