Monster Hunter Wilds’ new event quest is the best one yet: bully a Chatacabra for “a pile of Hard and Advanced Armor Spheres”
In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Chatacabra is the initial monster you engage in combat with. Despite its intimidating gorilla-frog appearance, it’s not particularly challenging in battle. You can even stun it by throwing a Large Barrel Bomb when it charges at you, and it simply gobbles it up. This makes the Chatacabra an ideal monster for honing new skills or mastering timing mechanics like Guard Crush and Offset attacks. If you’re like me, you’ve been frequently defeating the Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds, and now Capcom has provided a fresh reason to continue doing so.
Following the introduction of time-bound event quests in the game last week, Capcom has introduced a new quest called ‘Tongue Tied’ for players today. In this adventure, you’ll journey across the Windward Plains and engage in combat with a Tempered Chatacabra. Unlike previous event quests that offered exclusive armor pieces and cooking materials as rewards, this time, you’ll receive rare Hard Armor Spheres and Advanced Armor Spheres upon completion of your mission. These spheres are essential for enhancing your armor items. Advanced Spheres contribute 200 points towards an upgrade, while Hard Spheres offer a massive 1,000 points (the top-tier armors usually need 2,000 points to boost their quality).
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that this mission is repeatable until March 18, 2025, 7:59 ET / 4:59 PT (or 23:59 GMT), giving me plenty of time to grind Armor Spheres. The task isn’t too tough – just keep pounding those Chatacabras! However, the number of Spheres you receive for completing the mission seems to be a bit unpredictable. Some players reported getting one Sphere per quest, while others were lucky enough to get nine at once, according to Capcom’s tweets.
As you take on the Tempered Chactacabra, it presents an opportunity to gather the versatile ‘Hunter Symbol I’ item. This item is essential for upgrading several High Rank weapons. Although its Tempered state increases its difficulty level, remember it’s still a walkover, so enjoy the hunt!
