Monster Hunter Wilds Hit With Another Flurry Of Bad Reviews Following TU4

Following the huge success of Monster Hunter: World and Rise, Monster Hunter Wilds unfortunately didn’t live up to expectations. While the game initially attracted a lot of players, serious technical problems quickly became apparent. Despite many updates attempting to fix these issues, the game still hasn’t recovered. Even a collaboration with Final Fantasy couldn’t turn things around, and Capcom has acknowledged that Wilds hasn’t performed as well as they’d hoped.

The company launched Title Update 4 yesterday, adding the Elder Dragon Gogmazios, fresh gear, and tougher Arch-tempered monsters – including Arch-tempered Jin Dahaad. The update also tweaked weapon performance and resolved several bugs.

Despite a lot of new content, Monster Hunter Wilds hasn’t improved its reception, and is currently receiving more negative reviews on Steam.

Monster Hunter Wilds’ Title Update 4 Has Done Nothing To Change The Game’s Fortunes

When the latest update for Monster Hunter Wilds launched, it received a surge of negative feedback on Steam. SteamDB data shows 420 negative reviews compared to just 238 positive ones on that day – the highest number of negative reviews the game has seen since early October. This has resulted in an overall “Mixed” rating for the game on the platform.

Players are frustrated with the game’s performance, even after the recent TU4 update, which was intended to improve things. One player reported that the game now runs even worse and looks less appealing. Another long-time player, with over 200 hours of gameplay, stated they can’t recommend the game, citing ongoing performance issues since its February release. They believe the game needed more development time and suggest a rushed release was motivated by financial goals, ultimately harming its potential.

This game needed to come out a year later at the very least.

The game’s player count did increase significantly, going from a high of 45,000 in November to 123,000. However, this boost wasn’t as large as the increase seen with the previous major update.

This feels like another serious setback for Monster Hunter Wilds, and it’s going to be incredibly difficult for Capcom to turn things around and regain fans’ trust.
