On December 16, 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds will receive a major free update. It adds a brand-new Elder Dragon to hunt, along with new gear, gameplay features, events, and other exciting content.
Capcom recently held a Monster Hunter showcase to reveal details about the upcoming update for Monster Hunter Wilds and share news about Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. The event was originally postponed due to a tsunami warning in Japan, but is now available to watch online as a recorded video.
Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 4 Adds New Elder Dragon and Support Hunters
Monster Hunter Wilds’ Title Update 4 introduces Gogmazios, a new Elder Dragon. You can fight him after finishing the main story quest, “A First Cry.” This quest is designed for four hunters who can bring along supporting hunters—a new feature—creating parties of eight. You’ll team up with Nadia and Fabius for this challenge, and a replayable event version of the quest will also be available on the same day.
New Equipment
A new quest lets players upgrade their Rarity 8 Artian Weapons into stronger Gogma Artian Weapons by collecting materials from Gogmazios. These upgraded weapons will randomly receive one individual skill and one group skill, and players can use a feature called Gogma Reinforce to either keep their existing upgrades or completely re-roll the skills. Additionally, hunters can now further improve armor that’s already at HR 100+ with the new Armor Transcendence system.
New Arch-Tempered Monster, Support Hunters and Optional Quests
I’m so hyped for Title Update 4 in Monster Hunter Wilds! They’re adding an Arch-tempered Jin Dahaad, which sounds incredibly challenging. But that’s not all – we’re getting some awesome new support hunters to help us out! There’s Nadia with a light bowgun, Griffin who rocks a great sword, and another light bowgun user, Nightmist. Plus, they’re adding a ton of super difficult quests with some seriously tough 9-star monsters. And the best part? There will be limited-time quests where we can craft unique gear and farm for those essential Heavy Armor Spheres. It’s going to be a blast!
New Downloadable Content
The new update will include four popular poses from previous Monster Hunter games, available to all players at no cost. Players will also receive free vouchers to customize their character and Palico. Additionally, a new paid Cosmetic DLC Pack will be released.
Monster Hunter Wilds Performance Improvements Roadmap
The developers have heard player feedback about making the game better and have shared a plan to fix the problems.
- With Title Update 4 on December 16, the developers will work on CPU/GPU Optimization across all platforms, including improvements to processing, load reduction, and other optimizations.
- Then, a Steam-exclusive CPU/GPU optimization patch will arrive in January 2026, adding new graphics and CPU settings, along with new presets and additional options to reduce processing load. It will improve the shader compilation process, VRAM usage, and high-resolution texture packs.
- Another CPU/GPU optimization patch will be released for all platforms in February 2026, introducing level-of-detail (LOD) quality levels for polygonal meshes in 3D models, reducing GPU processing load.
Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update Roamap
On December 16th, a major free update (version 4) will be released, adding new content like Gogmazios, powerful Artisan Weapons, challenging Optional Quests, and the ability to upgrade your armor. We’re also making various improvements and balancing changes. Following that, a seasonal event called the Festival of Accord: Lumenhymn will run from December 19th to January 14th. Finally, players can test their skills against the incredibly powerful Arch-tempered Jin Dahaad starting December 24th.
The new 1.041 update for Monster Hunter Wilds adds Arch-tempered Arkveld, challenging Advanced Quests, and several gameplay improvements. It also features a collaboration with Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, plus a community design contest.
