Monster Hunter Wilds Armorcharm and Powercharm Guide – How To Unlock and Equip Both for Improved Stats
Unveiling the Power and Armor Charms in Monster Hunter Wilds
In the grand arrival of Monster Hunter Wilds, I found myself once again drawn to the enigma surrounding the unlock conditions for the Armorcharm and Powercharm, which are known to enhance attack and defense stats. This guide aims to clarify the functions of these charms in Monster Hunter Wilds, the bonuses they offer, the prerequisites for unlocking them, and whether or not they can be upgraded.
Please be aware that this guide may contain spoilers pertaining to a location towards the conclusion of the game’s story.
Happy hunting!
What is the Armorcharm and Powercharm in Monster Hunter Wilds
Since I began playing Monster Hunter games on the 3DS, it’s become a customary practice to aim for the Armorcharm and Powercharm, which enhance stats. Simply possessing these charms in your inventory during quests often increases attack and defense (with each charm offering its own boost). Over time, each game has handled them uniquely, but you typically unlock them for purchase and then level them up. In Monster Hunter Worlds, you can unlock both of them through specific side missions after completing the main story and reaching high rank.
Monster Hunter Wilds Armorcharm defense boost and Powercharm attack boost stats
In Monster Hunter Wilds, I experimented by turning on and off the weapon attack multiplier (this value is larger for weapons like the Great Sword as it’s displayed). If you’re unfamiliar or uninterested in this terminology, that’s alright. By default, the game shows the weapon’s attack power including this multiplier. Using my current gear, placing the Armorcharm in my inventory pouch boosted my armor from 351 to 363. During hunts, having the Armorcharm in your inventory increases your defense stat by +12.
When I carried the Powercharm in my inventory, my weapon attack power increased from 215 to 221. For my Great Sword’s attack power, including the coefficient, it rose from 1032 to 1061 when I had the Powercharm on me. Essentially, carrying the Powercharm adds a +6 raw Attack bonus (without considering the coefficient).
How to unlock the Armorcharm in Monster Hunter Wilds
In the game, character NPC Cobb provides you with a secondary task called “Defend Hollow’s Wounded Zone,” which involves tracking down and eliminating not one but two Hirabami simultaneously within the arena. Once accomplished and reported back to Cobb, you will acquire the Armorcharm as a reward in your inventory. Keep in mind that you should have reached Hunter Rank (HR) 16 or above to access this side mission.
How to unlock the Powercharm in Monster Hunter Wilds
In the game, NPC Rex assigns you a side task titled “Gatekeeper Duty,” which takes place within the arena. This mission requires you to hunt two Ajarakans simultaneously. Upon completing and reporting back to Rex, you’ll discover that you’ve obtained the Powercharm in your inventory. However, keep in mind that you must have reached HR 21 (Hunter Rank) or higher to receive this side mission.
Does Monster Hunter Wilds have the Armortalon and Powertalon?
At present, upon the initial release of the game, you cannot acquire the Armortalon and Powertalon directly. In previous versions, you would purchase the Armorcharm and Powercharm, then enhance them using specific Monster components to possess one each of Armortalon, Powertalon, Armorcharm, and Powercharm in your inventory. There’s a chance that this feature could be introduced through future updates or patches.
