Miley Cyrus is proving you can always find your way back home.
In a preview for the upcoming “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary” special, the singer reflects on her time playing Miley Stewart in the Disney show. The series followed Stewart as she lived a double life: a typical high school student by day and the famous pop star Hannah Montana by night.
In a preview clip, Miley Cyrus dresses up in a look reminiscent of her Hannah Montana days and revisits sets rebuilt from the original series – like the Stewart family living room and Hannah’s famous rotating closet – admitting, “I’m already getting emotional.”
Alex Cooper, the host of the hit podcast “Call Her Daddy,” told Cyrus that the show “defined a generation.” Cooper will host a special celebrating the series, which will debut on Disney+ on March 24th – exactly 20 years after it first aired on Disney Channel. The show ran for four seasons.
The trailer features a touching moment of Miley Cyrus dancing with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus—who also played her dad on the show—and looking at old photos with her mother, Tish Cyrus.
When they announced the special back in February, Miley explained it was her way of showing love and gratitude to all of us who’ve been with her for the past 20 years. It really means a lot to me that she wants to celebrate with her fans – that’s us! – after everything.

On her album ‘Endless Summer Vacation,’ Cyrus transforms her divorce into a celebration of self-discovery and highlights her incredible vocal talent, starting with the hugely popular and empowering anthem ‘Flowers’.
You know, ‘Hannah Montana’ will always hold a special place in my heart. It wasn’t just a TV show for me – it became this incredible shared experience that really shaped my life, and the lives of so many fans. I’m so grateful for that connection we all had. And honestly, it’s amazing to me that people still love it and talk about it years later – that’s something I’m really proud of.
Disney has announced a special featuring never-before-seen footage from the show’s archives, alongside a look back at its most beloved songs and scenes.
According to Ayo Davis, head of Disney Branded Television, ‘Hannah Montana’ inspired fans to pursue their dreams, express themselves freely, and be true to who they are – and that impact continues today. She described working with Miley Cyrus on a special celebrating the show as a ‘dream come true,’ and said it’s intended as a thank you to the devoted fans who still love the series almost 20 years after it first aired.
