Michael Saylor Attempts to Invade Rogan’s Podcast: A Bitcoin Bonanza? 🥸💰
In a move of such audacity it might well have been conceived in a particularly fertile mind, Strategy co-founder Michael Saylor has announced, with all the subtlety of a bull in a china shop, his desire to discuss blockchain’s favourite magic bean, Bitcoin, on the illustrious Joe Rogan Experience.
“Hey @joerogan, let’s talk about Bitcoin,” Saylor proclaimed on the 31st of May via the social media platform X—formerly known as Twitter, when that was still a thing—prompting, as predicted, a twinkle in the eyes of the crypto faithful. A fan, in desperation, asked Rogan’s digital echo chamber, “Who’s one guest you’d love to see Joe Rogan interview that he hasn’t had on yet?” and poor Michael took the bait. Such a brave man. Such a disaster waiting to happen. 🎯
Saylor’s bold post sparks chaos in the Bitcoin universe
Thoughts blossomed among the circle of digital gold enthusiasts. The Bitcoin Therapist, ever the optimist, declared, “This interview will shatter the internet.” Presumably because Saylor might, at last, explain why his ledger is longer than a Dostoevsky novel.
Crypto analyst Kook, with the confidence of a man who’s just found the fountain of eternal bullishness, predicted, “Saylor is going to Bitcoin pill Joe Rogan.” Meanwhile, Brandon MacDougal, probably joking or perhaps not, announced, “For the first time ever, I’ll be watching a Joe Rogan podcast if Saylor is there.” Because nothing says entertainment like a Bitcoin evangelist guest who probably prefers his chair to his Bloomberg terminal. 😂
Rogan’s podcast has historically dipped its toes in the crypto pond, often celebrating Bitcoin as the chosen one. In October 2023, with a seriousness that would make a lawyer blush, Rogan admitted that Bitcoin fascinated him more than any other digital gimmick. “The real fascinating crypto is Bitcoin. That’s the one that I think has the most likely possibility of becoming a universal viable currency,” he announced, as if revealing the secret recipe for eternal youth.
“I love the fact that it’s been implemented,” he added, possibly while looking at a screen filled with charts that make abstract art look like kindergarten doodles.
While Rogan remains silent on whether he’ll extend his listening eyes to Saylor’s overture, it’s worth noting that Rogan’s love for blockchain isn’t exactly new. Back in the halcyon days of Bitcoin’s youth, between 2014 and 2016, Andreas Antonopoulos, the sage of all things crypto, appeared on Rogan’s show multiple times. Bitcoin wasn’t trading at twenty thousand dollars then; it was exploring the depths below a thousand, which now seems as quaint as a cassette tape.
Saylor’s empire—an impressive holding of 580,250 Bitcoins, valued at a staggering $60.47 billion—might soon be adding “podcast guest” to its extensive résumé, pending Rogan’s approval. That is, unless Rogan’s busy doing a Joe Rogan impression of someone who’s already maxed out on crypto talk.
On May 10, Saylor mused aloud in the hallowed halls of the Coin Stories podcast about why Bitcoin isn’t yet soaring to $150,000. His answer, of course, involved traders with short-term attention spans and a new wave of investors eager to buy the dip. As if markets are some giant game of pin the tail on the donkey, except the donkey is a digital asset and nobody quite knows where we’re supposed to pin.
“I think we’re going through a rotation right now,” Saylor opined, probably while chuckling at the chaos, because what’s more charming than a billion-dollar man pondering the fate of a coin with a limited supply that only a mathematician could love?
