Meg Ryan, 64, looks incredibly youthful as she’s seen for first time since the murder of her When Harry Met Sally director

Meg Ryan looked incredibly youthful in a sleeveless black dress on Saturday evening.

Kelly McGillis, the 64-year-old actress from Top Gun, was at a pre-Oscar dinner hosted by Chanel and Charles Finch. The event was held at the Polo Lounge in the Beverly Hills Hotel.

This is the first time the Hollywood icon has been seen in several months.

This is the first time she’s been seen publicly since the shocking murder of the director of ‘When Harry Met Sally‘.

In December, sheĀ paid an emotional tribute to Rob Reiner days after he and his wife were killed.

The actress, who appeared with Billy Crystal in the 1989 romantic comedy, spoke highly of the couple and acknowledged their devastating loss.

Alongside a photo of her and Reiner dancing on set, Ryan wrote: ‘Oh how we will miss this man…

Rob and Michele, thank you for believing in love, happily-ever-afters, and joy. We appreciate your optimism and your deep love for our nation.

Police discovered the bodies of 78-year-old Hollywood legend and his 70-year-old wife at their Los Angeles home on Sunday, both having suffered fatal throat wounds. 77-year-old Crystal was seen visibly distraught at the scene.

I was absolutely devastated to learn that Nick, their son, was arrested the same day as the murders. It’s just… unthinkable. He’s now been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, and if he’s found guilty, he could be sentenced to life in prison, or even face the death penalty. It’s a nightmare, and I feel so much for his family.

Ryan expressed hope that something positive could come from this terrible tragedy, perhaps raising awareness or fostering understanding. He believes they would want their story to be remembered with hope and compassion, and to ultimately bring people closer together and find peace.

Her co-star CrystalĀ also paid tribute to his close friend Reiner.Ā

On Sunday, the actor was spotted with his wife, Janice, at the Reiners’ home in Los Angeles. They had been called there by the couple’s daughter, Romy, who discovered her parents had passed away.

Crystal appeared upset and was seen crying as she left the scene, which was quickly filled with police officers.

I was so moved to see this actor stand with so many other comedy greats! They all released a statement through the Associated Press last night, and it really meant a lot to me as a fan.

‘There is no other director who has his range.’Ā

The statement celebrated the remarkable career of director Rob Reiner and his 36-year marriage to Michele, describing them as a perfect match and highlighting their three children together.

As a lifelong movie lover, I still get such a thrill from the experience of sitting in a dark theater with a crowd of strangers. There’s something magical about sharing a moment with everyone – laughing together, crying during a sad scene, or even jumping at a scary part. Seeing a really intense story unfold on the big screen with all those people is just unforgettable.

Rob Reiner became a remarkably versatile director, building on the lessons he learned from his father, Carl, and his influential mentor, Norman Lear. He wasn’t just a talented comedic actor; he evolved into a true master of storytelling, with a broader range than almost any other director working today.

Whether he was doing comedy, drama, fake documentaries, or real ones, he consistently delivered excellent work. Audiences loved and trusted him, and eagerly went to see his movies, the statement said.

He was a uniquely gifted comedian, with an exceptional ear for rhythm in dialogue and a talent for subtly enhancing dramatic tension. He genuinely cared for actors and inspired writers to reach their full potential. His greatest strength was fostering a collaborative environment where everyone felt empowered to contribute their ideas – he truly made people feel like part of a team.

‘To be in his hands as a filmmaker was a privilege but that is only part of his legacy.’

The friends remembered the director as a deeply passionate and courageous person who truly loved his country and dedicated himself to improving it. They also spoke fondly of his wife, Michele, describing her as his ideal partner.

Michele and Rob Reiner were a powerful couple who dedicated their lives to helping others. Together, they were energetic, generous, and a true inspiration. As their friends, we will deeply miss them both.

The heartfelt statement ended with a poignant quote from one of Reiner’s favorite films.Ā

‘There is a line from one of Rob’s favorite films, It’s a Wonderful Life.Ā

Every person impacts the lives of so many others, and their absence creates a significant void. You truly don’t realize how far-reaching that impact is.

On Wednesday, Nick Reiner appeared in court for the first time, facing charges of murdering both of his parents.

During his court appearance in Los Angeles, he wore jeans and what appeared to be a suicide prevention vest, with no shirt on underneath.

When the judge asked Reiner if he was willing to delay his initial court appearance, he responded, ‘Yes, your Honor.’

Nick’s attorney, Alan Jackson, released a statement acknowledging the case involves complicated and significant problems. He requested that everyone allow the legal process to unfold naturally, without jumping to conclusions.

Nick now faces two charges of first-degree murder for the deaths of his famous actor father and photographer mother.

Okay, so it’s even worse than I thought! They’re saying it wasn’t just a murder, it was multiple murders, and they’re piling on the charges. And the weapon? A knife! Seriously, a knife? It’s just…it’s horrifying, and they’re making sure he’ll pay for everything. I’ve been following this case so closely, and this new development…it’s just devastating, but also, I guess, what he deserves.
