Matt LeBlanc looks worlds away from glossy Super Bowl ad as reclusive Friends star is seen on rare public outing

He’s returning to the spotlight as one of the stars of a brand new Super Bowl commercial. 

Matt LeBlanc, known for his role on Friends, looked quite different from his polished appearance in the recent Dunkin’ Donuts commercial.

Okay, so I just saw the funniest Dunkin’ ad! Matt LeBlanc, who I adore, is back on screen with Jennifer Aniston – can we talk about a Friends reunion?! – and Jason Alexander. But the real star? Ben Affleck, playing the ultimate Dunkin’ devotee. Seriously, it’s a really clever and hilarious spot – you have to check it out!

The real LeBlanc was very different from the polished image he presented in the advertisement.

Instead of his usual sharp black shirt and neatly styled hair, LeBlanc dressed casually in a cap, V-neck t-shirt, and sweatpants when he stopped at a gas station convenience store in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The same day, a short preview of Ben Affleck’s Dunkin’ Donuts commercial was shared, revealing him asking three celebrities for their opinions on a pilot episode he filmed back in 1995.

The commercial starts immediately following a scene where the three actors finish watching a video of Ben Affleck’s early work, identified as a ‘Network Pilot ’95 v3’ tape.

The three legends are quiet as an unaware and jovial Affleck asks for their feedback.

He asks Aniston for her reactions, thoughts, and feelings, repeatedly prompting her. When she doesn’t respond, he says, ‘Tell me what’s currently embarrassing or awkward—I’m experiencing a lot of it!’ He calls it ‘golden cringe’.

Alexander said to his companions, clearly doubting it, ‘I don’t believe he actually directed Argo,’ the film that won an Academy Award.

Affleck pressed on, saying, ‘I already told you I completely ruined this – I burned it and got rid of every copy. And just so you know, I wasn’t telling the truth when I said that.’

LeBlanc, on the other hand, was rather impressed by what he saw. ‘Can I get a copy?’ he asks.

‘No one,’ Aniston stresses with a tense tone, ‘No one can see this.’

‘Uhh yeah. It’s only going to air once,’ Affleck replies.

‘Still holds up!’ LeBlanc says.

‘Oh God, Matthew,’ an exasperated Aniston replies.

This role brings LeBlanc back to television after spending recent years focusing on running a car dealership instead of acting in Hollywood.

The actor hasn’t been on screen since the Friends reunion show on HBO in 2021, and had mentioned he was planning to take a break from acting.

His last acting gig was as Adam Burns on CBS series, Man with a Plan, between 2016 and 2020.

Lisa Kudrow, who starred alongside Matthew Perry in Friends, recently shared that the entire cast – Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and the late Matthew Perry – only came together once between the show ending in 2004 and their 2021 reunion special on HBO Max. This happened over a period of 17 years.

Kudrow revealed on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s podcast, Dinner’s on Me, that the six of them had only gotten together for dinner once since the show finished.

Even though it had been a decade since the show ended, the actors fell back into their old rhythms when they got together for dinner.

‘Just us at someone’s house and [we] had dinner, and like, didn’t miss a beat,’ Kudrow said.

Friends was a hugely popular and critically acclaimed show, receiving 62 Emmy Award nominations throughout its ten seasons.

The show was a big winner at the Emmys, taking home six awards, including the top prize for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2002. Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox were also recognized with individual Emmys for their memorable performances as Rachel Green and Phoebe Buffay.
