The first trailer for the new He-Man movie is out, and it’s sending 80s kids right back to their childhoods! The film boasts incredibly faithful character designs and, for the first time ever, a truly realistic depiction of Eternia. After four decades of waiting, fans are finally getting the He-Man movie they’ve always dreamed of.
Travis Knight’s Masters of the Universe had a long and difficult journey to the big screen, changing hands between writers, directors, and studios over more than ten years. Bringing He-Man to life seemed like an insurmountable challenge. However, early reactions suggest the wait was worth it, and this film might be the best possible adaptation of the Masters of the Universe franchise.
The movie Masters of the Universe stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam, who also plays He-Man, alongside Camila Mendes as Teela and Jared Leto as Skeletor (originally Keldor). Alison Brie plays Evil-Lyn (Professor Evelyn Powers), while Idris Elba takes on the role of Man-At-Arms (Duncan). Other cast members include Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw (Kronis), Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto (Malcolm), Sasheer Zamata as Suzie, James Purefoy as King Randor, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, Jon Xue Zhang as Ram-Man, and Kristen Wiig as Roboto.
‘Masters of the Universe’ Has Received Heroic First Reactions
An early screening of Masters of the Universe took place in November, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. People especially liked Jared Leto’s performance as Skeletor. As is typical with these kinds of previews, details about the plot were kept under wraps, but viewers shared general impressions and reactions online.
John Campea shared on his show that he spoke with someone who had an early look at the new He-Man project. According to this person, who has no personal stake in its success, it’s fantastic. They were genuinely shocked and surprised by how good it is, describing it as truly amazing.
