It’s the weekend of the BAFTAs, and UK viewers now have a chance to see one of the year’s most celebrated films. The Secret Agent originally received rave reviews, earning a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and it still holds a remarkably high 98% rating.
Kleber Mendonça Filho’s new thriller, set in the 1970s, stars Wagner Moura as a college professor in Recife who discovers his neighbors are watching him. This revelation traps him in a web of corruption with no way out.
Okay, so I checked out The Secret Agent, and honestly, the critics were right. The Hollywood Reporter called it a masterpiece, and Little White Lies said it totally pulled me in. Even the Wall Street Journal was impressed, saying it was a really well-made, exciting movie – and they even called it one of the best of the year! It really lived up to the hype.

Rose Byrne has received BAFTA and Oscar nominations for her outstanding performance in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Additionally, Wasteman is nominated for the BAFTA award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.
