Master the Battle: Defeat Shactuka in The First Berserker Like a Pro!

In its subterranean confines, the Empire is attempting to control a relentless killing machine known as Shactuka, a fearsome creature. Those prisoners deemed useless by the Empire are often fed to it. By the conclusion of the ninth mission, Khazan comes face-to-face with this brutal beast. The closest Blade Nexus to this boss can be found at the Execution Ground Entrance in Linon Mine.

Shactuka is a formidable foe, known for spreading disease. Therefore, it’s crucial that players gear up appropriately before engaging this boss. The following guide outlines each of its attacks and offers strategies for neutralizing them, helping you advance through the narrative more smoothly.

Shactuka Attack Overview In The First Berserker: Khazan

Attack Image How To Avoid
5-Hit Claw Combo
Shactuka performs two horizontal claw attacks, then two downward strikes, followed by a two-handed slam. Brink Guarding these is fairly easy and allows you to land a couple of hits after guarding the slam.
Kick and Dive
The boss leaps ahead and performs a back kick, followed by a falling strike. Shactuka takes a few seconds before landing, so delay your guard or dodge, then dash in to attack before it gets back up.
Leaping Strike
Shactuka leaps into the air and attacks with its right hand. The boss can follow this up with several attacks. A well-timed dodge or guard works in this situation.
Dragging Claw
The boss plants its hand at the player’s location, drags it back for two attacks, then follows up with a horizontal claw strike using its left hand. You can use Brink Guard to avoid getting hit.
Leaping Bite
Shactuka attacks and jumps back, then follows with a leaping bite. If you manage to Brink Guard the bite, you’ll stay close to its face and can land multiple hits before it gets up.
Plague Bites
The boss bites three times before finishing with a leaping bite. All bites cause Plague buildup, so it’s best to dodge the first three and Brink Guard the leaping bite.
Dragging Burst
Shactuka drags its claw while moving toward the player, performing a Burst Attack. Counterattacking is the only beneficial option. If its hand has plague, the boss can execute different variations of the attack.
Plague Grab
The boss performs a leaping strike, then follows up with a grab that can only be dodged; otherwise, your Plague buildup will rise significantly.
Plague Strike
Shactuka licks its hand, applying Plague, then leaps to perform a thrust attack that must be dodged to the side.

How To Beat Shactuka In The First Berserker: Khazan

In this battle, Shactuka initiates with a series of five claw strikes that you should counter using the Brink Guard maneuver. Your primary focus should be on dealing damage to it, aiming to deplete its stamina bar. Since the boss takes considerable damage from the Brutal Attack, this is an effective move against it. Its head is its vulnerable spot, taking additional damage, and when it’s exhausted, it falls, opening a chance for you to execute a Brutal Attack right on its face. During the fight, be watchful as many of Shactuka’s attacks, including combos and bites, will bring its head near you, creating chances for you to capitalize on its weak point.

Boost your healing process by releasing the Soulstones hidden within each mission, which you can activate by chatting with Daphrona, situated in The Crevice.

Occasionally, the leader makes a tour around the battlefield before launching an attack, making your viewpoint jump around frequently. To make things easier, it’s advisable to lock onto the leader. The primary challenge during this battle is evading the Plague status, which progressively drains your health, adding another layer of difficulty to the boss’s relentless assault. You can cure yourself with Plague Cleanse Potions, and wearing Plague Resistance accessories will increase your chances of survival during the fight.

As a gamer, I always remember to evade those Plague attacks instead of trying to stand my ground like a Brink Guard. The thing is, even if I manage to block them, the Plague could still accumulate on me.
