1. How to Get to Heaven from Belfast (Netflix)

Lisa McGee, the creator of Derry Girls, shows that the funny, unpredictable lives of women in their thirties and forties can be just as amusing as stories about teenagers.
What to Read Next
The story centers on Saoirse (Roisin Gallagher), Dara (Caoilfhionn Dunne), and Robyn (Sinéad Keenan), three old friends whose visit to honor a deceased schoolmate takes a dark turn when a long-held secret from their past resurfaces, leading to unexpected and chaotic consequences.
Though they long to move on, the three friends find themselves compelled to uncover the truth. However, their investigation quickly puts them in harm’s way, making them targets for someone dangerous.
How to Get to Heaven from Belfast is a unique murder mystery that feels reminiscent of early 2000s culture.
2. Bad Sisters (AppleTV)

The darkly funny series Bad Sisters revolves around the death of John Paul (Claes Bang), a man who wasn’t universally loved. The show jumps between the past and present, following sisters Eva (Sharon Horgan), Becka (Eve Hewson), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), and Bibi (Sarah Greene) as they repeatedly try—and fail—to kill their cruel brother-in-law. Their goal is to protect their sister, Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), from a miserable and abusive situation.
Okay, so the game starts right after John Paul dies, and I’m playing as Thomas Claffin, Brian Gleeson’s character. Basically, his insurance company is falling apart, and he’s desperate to avoid paying out a massive claim. The only way he can do that? He needs to convince everyone that John Paul’s death wasn’t an accident – he has to prove someone did something to him.
Even though the Garvey sisters’ attempt to kill John Paul failed, he is definitely dead. Now, the mystery is figuring out who actually did it.
3. And Then There Were None (BBC)

Agatha Christie’s classic mystery, “And Then There Were None,” comes to the screen in this new three-part series. Screenwriter Sarah Phelps faithfully adapts the beloved novel, telling the story of ten strangers who are enticed to a secluded island off the coast of Devon, where they begin to disappear one by one.
After luring them to his island, the host reveals a recording claiming each of the ten guests has gotten away with murder, and then begins to systematically kill them.
“And Then There Were None” is a gripping and suspenseful mystery with a fantastic cast including Anna Maxwell Martin, Charles Dance, and Aidan Turner.
4. Fool Me Once

This thrilling new series from Harlan Coben stars Michelle Keegan as Maya Stern, a former military pilot. When Maya begins to suspect something isn’t right about her husband Joe’s (Richard Armitage) death, her suspicions are confirmed when she unexpectedly sees him alive on a security camera.
Is he alive or is something darker at play?
What unfolds is a deep conspiracy involving her wealthy in-laws and Maya’s sister.
I was totally hooked by Fool Me Once! It’s easily one of Harlan Coben’s best thrillers, and it blew up as soon as it came out on New Year’s Day this year. Everyone was talking about it – it really hit the top of the charts!
5 . Broadchurch (ITVX/Netflix)

The small coastal town of Broadchurch is shattered when the body of a young boy is found on the beach. The search for the killer unfolds over eight intense episodes, eventually revealing a surprising truth. This is only the beginning of the story, as it’s all part of the first season.
I’m so excited – there are two more seasons coming of that incredible crime drama with Olivia Colman and David Tennant! It looks like each new case will dig up even more secrets and crimes hidden within the town and its people.
Alongside Colman and Tennant, stars like Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley from Bridgerton, and Vicky McClure, Eve Myles, and Jodie Whittaker from Line of Duty, will appear throughout the series.
6. Bodies (Netflix)
![]()
Things get really interesting – and bizarre – when the same person turns up dead in different eras: 1890, 1941, 2023, and 2053. It’s a truly unusual mystery!
Four detectives are working across different time periods to figure out the identity of a mysterious dead man and how he ended up there. They keep encountering a man named Elias Mannix (Stephen Graham), who seems to be at the heart of a complex, 150-year-old conspiracy involving time travel.
If you love solving mysteries and are looking for a really puzzling show, then Bodies is a great choice.
7. The Beast in Me (Netflix)

We called it a “razor sharp, gripping” series when it first came out and we still stand by that.
This gripping psychological thriller also works as a compelling murder mystery. Clare Danes plays Aggie Wiggs, a successful author still grieving the loss of her son, who died four years earlier.
Aggie becomes increasingly fixated on her neighbor, Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), and starts to suspect he may have been involved in his wife’s vanishing.
I’m totally hooked on this story! It’s about this really strange connection between two people, and honestly, you don’t know who to trust. There’s so much lying and mystery, and the more one of the characters, Aggie, starts figuring things out, the more trouble she seems to find. It’s really gripping!
8. The Residence (Netflix)

“The Residence” is a funny and quirky mystery that asks viewers to go along with the strange, but clever, world of its main investigator, Cordelia Cupp (Uzo Aduba), to really enjoy it.
The story jumps between the present and the past, beginning at a grand state dinner held at the White House. It’s there that the body of AB Wynter, the Chief Usher (played by Giancarlo Esposito), is found, covered in blood.
The detective, Cupp, must solve a murder that happened inside the White House. No one is allowed to leave, including singer Kylie Minogue who was brought in to entertain the Australian Prime Minister, and the killer is still among them. Cupp needs to find out who committed the crime and their motive.
Okay, so it looks like everyone had a reason to do it. Now it’s up to me, playing as Cupp, to use my brain and, believe it or not, my bird-watching knowledge to figure out who the killer actually is. It’s gonna be a tricky case, for sure!
9. Get Millie Black (Channel 4)

Okay, so if you’re like me and love a good mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat, with a main character who’s clearly got some serious secrets… seriously, drop everything and check out Get Millie Black. You won’t regret it!
Tamara Lawrance, known for her role in Small Axe, plays Millie Black, a former detective with Scotland Yard. She goes back to her hometown of Kingston, Jamaica, and finds herself investigating a case that could destroy everything she knows.
Marlon James, author of the Booker Prize-winning novel, tells a powerful story that tackles difficult issues like prejudice against transgender people in Jamaica, human trafficking, and corruption within the police force.
In this five-part drama, siblings Lawrance and Chyna McQueen’s characters, Millie and Hibiscus, navigate family problems while bonding over tennis. Hibiscus, played by Chyna McQueen, is a transgender woman, and her relationship with Millie provides a compelling dynamic amidst the family’s struggles.
10. I, Jack Wright

After wealthy Jack Wright (Trevor Eve) dies in a way that seems fishy, hidden betrayals, plots, and secrets are revealed, and everyone who stood to gain from his death becomes a suspect.
Tensions rise when Jack’s family—his third wife, Sally, and his sons, Gray and John—learn they won’t receive much of his vast wealth, causing a rift between them.
Powerful performances are anchored in compelling storytelling for a truly engrossing watch.
