Comic-Con just wrapped up in San Diego, and Marvel made some big announcements there about the future of its superhero movies, particularly how they’ll continue the Multiverse Saga.
A major announcement was made about Black Panther III, which is scheduled for release in December 2028. Director Ryan Coogler also confirmed that David Jonsson will be joining the cast as the character Toussaint.
The next Black Panther movie will feature T’Challa’s son becoming the new superhero. In the previous film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Letitia Wright’s character, Shuri, briefly took on the role.
While Jonsson is known for his work in the Alien films, landing a part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is definitely his most significant role yet. Interestingly, he quietly signed on for this project several months ago.
Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios told Empire Magazine that director Ryan Coogler wanted Tenoch Huerta to play Namor even before auditions started, and it quickly became clear he was the perfect fit.

Feige recounted that Coogler met with the actor in secret at a hotel. Afterward, Coogler called him and said he knew instantly this was the right person for the role. He described feeling deeply that the actor was not only talented but also a genuinely good person, and that he was perfect to play Black Panther.
Feige described feeling emotional excitement and immediately agreeing to the project. He revealed they’d kept it under wraps for about five to six months. As President of Marvel Studios since 2007, he’s been instrumental in many successful ventures.
Aside from his role in Alien: Romulus, Jonsson has appeared in films like the British romantic comedy Rye Lane, the highly praised drama Wasteman, and the intense thriller The Long Walk. He’s also known for his TV work as Gus Sackey in the first two seasons of Industry.
Kevin Feige had a packed night at Comic-Con, where Marvel revealed details about several projects. They showed a new clip from Avengers: Doomsday and announced that Ryan Gosling will be playing Ghost Rider in a future Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.
News about Jake Schreier’s planned X-Men movie was still missing, which frustrated many fans. We may learn more soon, as Disney’s D23 event is happening next month.
Black Panther III is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 15 December 2028.
