Marvel Rivals rank reset explained
Learn how the Marvel Rivals rank reset will affect your Competitive ranking.
In simple terms, the competitive ranks for Marvel Rivals will be restarted when Season 0 ends on January 9th, marking the start of Season 1.
As a passionate gamer, I appreciate the importance of rank calibration in online gaming. This process serves multiple purposes for us enthusiasts. For one, it deters smurfing at the outset by ensuring that experienced players don’t easily dominate newcomers. Secondly, it assesses whether top performers from the last season can adapt to the current game meta effectively. Lastly, it provides a fair starting point for all participants, offering everyone an opportunity to begin with a fresh slate and compete on equal terms.
In contrast to most other games, the competitive rank system in Marvel Rivals operates differently. Here are the specifics on how your ranking will adjust.
How Marvel Rivals rank reset works
As per Zhiyong, the main combat game designer for Marvel Rivals, each player’s position at the end of the season determines which of the seven tiers they’ll be placed in at the start of the next one.
If I’m currently in Platinum 1, I might find myself sliding down to Silver 2 when the fresh Marvel Rivals season kicks off. After all, rankings can shift quite a bit with each new season!
At the close of the game season, if a player fails to reach Gold rank or higher, they will begin the following season in Bronze 3, which is the lowest rank. This implies that there isn’t much point in exerting additional effort towards the end of the season as your position won’t be carried over to the next one.
At a particular point, the rank re-set will coincide with the debut of the Celestial rank in Marvel Rivals. This new rank, positioned above GrandMaster and just below Eternity, is part of the game’s hierarchy.
As stated by Zhiyong, the structure of Celestial is set to include three distinct segments. This move is being made with the intention of delivering a smooth and uninterrupted gaming experience for our high-ranking players.
Marvel Rivals’ first season officially begins on January 10th at 1 a.m., Pacific Standard Time, and runs for a total of three months. The developers plan to split the season into two segments, approximately six to seven weeks long each, giving you ample opportunity to focus on climbing the ranked ladder.
