Marvel Now Has Even More Reason To Make The Black Panther Decision Everyone Wants

With some recent positive news, Marvel Studios is now in a better position to move forward with a third Black Panther movie – something many fans have been eagerly waiting for. While official details about Black Panther 3 are still scarce, anticipation remains high.

With big team-up movies like Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars coming up, Marvel is at a good moment to finally make a casting choice fans have discussed for a long time – a decision that could be really thrilling and significant.

Black Panther 3 Has Been Confirmed For A While Now — Here’s What We Know

Ryan Coogler has been working on Black Panther 3 for a while now, and although Marvel hasn’t shared many details about the story or when it will be released—currently expected around 2028—we do know that Denzel Washington will be part of the cast. Coogler reportedly wrote a role specifically for Washington in the upcoming Marvel movie.

Before the next Black Panther movie comes out, several Wakandan characters will appear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe team-up films. So far, Shuri as Black Panther, King M’Baku, and members of the Dora Milaje are confirmed to be in Avengers: Doomsday. Plus, Namor and the people of Talokan, his underwater kingdom, will also join the fight.

Most fans believe that Doomsday and Secret Wars will be the epic endings to the current story arc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These events are expected to involve huge conflicts, heroes from different universes, and changes to past timelines, possibly completely changing the MCU as we know it.

Considering everything, the upcoming major events in Doomsday and Secret Wars might finally lead Marvel Studios to make a popular casting choice fans have been hoping for regarding Black Panther.

Following His Oscar Win, Marvel Should Absolutely Cast Michael B. Jordan As A New Black Panther

Michael B. Jordan gave a truly standout and captivating performance as Erik Killmonger in the first Black Panther film.

Erik, also called N’Jadaka and the son of N’Jobu, was a deeply tragic villain motivated by strong beliefs. Though his methods were brutal, he believed he was fighting for a greater good – to help the world beyond Wakanda’s borders, which he felt had been unfairly isolated for too long.

I was shocked when Erik’s attempt to take over Wakanda was stopped by Black Panther – and then he died at the end of the first movie! But honestly, I was even more blown away when Killmonger showed up again in Wakanda Forever. That scene in the Ancestral Plane with Shuri, after losing her brother and mother, was so powerful and really one of the best parts of the whole sequel, in my opinion. It was just such a great moment for her character.

There’s a good chance Michael B. Jordan will return for Black Panther 3, and he might have a significantly larger part this time around.

The MCU’s multiverse offers an exciting possibility: instead of bringing back N’Jadaka as a villain, Marvel could introduce a version of him from another universe. This variant could have had a very different upbringing, potentially becoming a truly noble and heroic Black Panther, mirroring the inspiring character Chadwick Boseman portrayed.

Showing what Killmonger’s life could have been like would not only deepen his character, but it would also follow a trend established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Just as Robert Downey Jr. recently returned as a villain—Doctor Doom—in a different role, it would be equally interesting to see a similar reversal for another character.

Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler have a strong working relationship, and Marvel Studios would be smart to continue using it, particularly after their recent Oscar win for Sinners. They consistently create projects with powerful emotions, cultural significance, and critical praise – all qualities that are vital to the Black Panther series and should be continued in future installments.

Marvel Studios should definitely continue working with Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan, and a great way to do that would be to let Jordan play the Black Panther in a new film – a role he’s always wanted.
