Okay, so as a huge Marvel fan, everyone’s losing it over the new Avengers: Doomsday poster! It looks like the artwork officially revealed Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., and people are already convinced this is a huge spoiler for the plot. It’s wild!
The new poster was unveiled on the same day the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday dropped. It features Doctor Doom from behind, standing on stairs and gazing at a tapestry.
Fans on Reddit are discussing a new image from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and pointing out that it appears to show two people at the very top.

People guessed the statues might represent Doctor Doom’s family – perhaps his mother, wife, and kids. They wondered if Doom was planning to resurrect them after they died when two universes crashed into each other and were destroyed.
One Reddit user theorized that Doctor Doom will lose everything – his family and entire universe – because of an incursion caused by Steve Rogers altering history by staying in the past.
What to Read Next
One person suggested the image might show Doctor Doom as a child with his mother. The comics portray him as deeply devoted to his mom, who tragically died and had her soul imprisoned in Hell. Every year, Doom attempts to rescue her from Mephisto in battle, but he’s never successful.
One Marvel Cinematic Universe fan expressed hope that a recent moment was a nod to the character’s mother, believing it suggests the writers will finally develop the character well.
Someone else suggested that Doctor Doom might be driven by the loss of his family – perhaps a wife and child – and that the Earth represents either his original home or the planet he now rules as Battleworld.
One fan shared a detailed idea, suggesting the image shows Doctor Doom and his mother, with a depiction of Battleworld at the heart of it.

It’s a long shot, but something caused a breach that ruined Doom’s world and led to his mother’s death. It might have been Steve Rogers deciding to remain in the past, but I think Loki manipulating the timeline is the more likely explanation.
The writers explained that having Doom pursue a god who controls fate fits perfectly with the character’s established motivations and actions.
Ultimately, the Avengers would still be responsible, as their mistake let that alternate version of events slip away with the Tesseract.
Avengers: Doomsday is released in cinemas on 18 December.
