Man Accused of Bringing Stolen Kitten Along on Bank Robbery in Maryland: Report

A man in Maryland is accused of stealing a kitten and bringing it with him to rob a bank.

According to police, surveillance footage shows the suspect entering a pet supply store and taking a black and white kitten, as reported by NBC4 Washington.

I heard this crazy story – apparently, someone actually ran into a PNC Bank with a cat! They just handed the poor thing to a teller and then asked for money. It’s wild!

Prince George’s County police managed to arrest the suspect while the bank took care of the cat.

Beltsville Community Cats rescue released a statement on what happened and says the kitten is safe.

“Catnapper’s Bank Robbery Attempt Foiled!

A playful 3.5-month-old kitten named Magnolia, with classic black and white markings, went missing today after someone took her from her temporary home at the Pet Supplies Plus store in Beltsville.

The man who kidnapped her walked into a PNC Bank and tried to use the kitten as part of a robbery attempt. He asked the bank manager to hold the animal while he wrote a demand note, which he then gave to a teller requesting all the money.

Fortunately, the robber didn’t get away with anything, and the police caught him. Magnolia was discovered unharmed in the bank manager’s office, and the two of them had become friends after going through the frightening experience together.

Magnolia has moved on from her mischievous past and is now focused on winning people over with her charm. She’s hoping to find a loving forever home where she can ‘steal’ plenty of treats, toys, and affection.
