Macaulay Culkin made a statement at Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday, sporting a sweater featuring the Very Hungry Caterpillar and brightly painted nails while attending the Dior show.

The 45-year-old actor seemed cheerful as he attended a public event for the first time since the unexpected passing of his “Home Alone” co-star, Catherine O’Hara, who died in January at age 71.

Macaulay wore a unique white sweater featuring the cover of Eric Carle’s classic 1969 children’s book, paired with a crisp blue shirt.

The American celebrity wore rolled-up blue jeans and brown Dior sneakers.

Okay, let’s talk red carpet style! Honestly, what really stood out to me when Macaulay arrived wasn’t his suit, it was his nails – a really fun, colourful paint job. It was such a cool, unexpected detail and definitely got people talking!

The actor was seen leaving his hotel for the show earlier today, wearing sunglasses.

O’Hara died in late January at the age of 71 after a blood clot in his lungs, a complication of his rectal cancer.

Following the actress’s passing, Macaulay shared a pair of photos on Instagram remembering her. The images included a still from a movie they worked on together and a more recent picture taken on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He shared a heartfelt message, saying he wished he’d had more time with his mother. He wrote about wanting to simply sit with her, feeling he still had so much left to say, and expressing his love and promise to see her again.

O’Hara was well known for playing Moira Rose on Schitt’s Creek, for which she won an Emmy in 2020.

More recently, she starred as Patty Leigh in Apple TV+’s The Studio.

It was such a special moment for me to witness! Two years ago, I had the honor of introducing Macaulay Culkin at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. It was a really emotional reunion for both of them, and you could just feel the years of history between them. Seeing them together was truly heartwarming, especially knowing it was their final time connecting publicly.

The famous actor delivered a moving speech, and the on-screen mother and son shared a touching, emotional hug.

“Home Alone remains a hugely popular movie worldwide, and Macaulay Culkin is the reason families continue to watch and enjoy it together every year,” she enthusiastically shared.

She described Culkin’s performance in the 1990 blockbuster as ‘perfect.’

She acknowledged his hard work, saying, ‘You made acting seem completely effortless, even though I know how much work you put in.’

I’ve always been so impressed with O’Hara – he’s such a pro and clearly loves what he does. What really gets me, though, is his amazing sense of humor. It’s quirky and a little dark, but somehow always feels real and relatable in everything he does. He just brings that special something to every role!

‘Macaulay, congratulations. You so deserve your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,’ she said.

She ended her speech with her usual wit, saying, ‘Thanks for having me – your mom who apparently wasn’t great at babysitting, leaving you home alone a couple of times! Seriously though, I’m so proud of you.’

Ana Martinez, who oversees the Hollywood Walk of Fame, had already shared her enthusiasm about O’Hara and Culkin reconnecting in a statement to the press.

It’s wonderful that Catherine O’Hara, who played Macaulay Culkin’s mother in the movie, is joining him at the event and will be giving a speech!
