Lulu reveals she’s ‘just found out’ her late ex-husband Maurice Gibb secretly fathered a son and says it ‘might have happened while we were married’

Lulu believes her late husband, Maurice Gibb, may have fathered a child with someone else while they were married for six years.

The Scottish actress revealed a surprising story on the latest Louis Theroux Podcast, detailing her marriage to a member of the Bee Gees, as well as relationships with pop icon David Bowie and hairstylist John Frieda.

Lulu, age 77, revealed to Louis Theroux that she recently discovered conclusive evidence proving the late musician Robin Gibb secretly fathered a son. The couple, who divorced in 1975 and never had children together, had a short-term affair that resulted in the child.

‘I think he’s got a son,’ she said. ‘It might have happened when we were married. I just found out.

Let me tell you, I recently learned something pretty shocking. A friend shared a story about a one-night stand that resulted in a child years ago. The details are sensitive, but paternity has been scientifically confirmed – the son is definitively the biological child of the man involved. It’s a hundred percent certain, and it’s something that’s really stuck with me.

Maurice Gibb passed away in 2003 after a heart attack at his home in Miami. He had two children, Samantha and Adam, with his wife, Yvonne Spenceley.

Despite firmly believing the musician had a child out of wedlock, Lulu explained to Theroux that she never bothered to find out the birthdate, stating it simply wasn’t a priority.

The singer also claimed age and experience had taught her to maintain a positive outlook.

You know, looking back, I realize I used to be way too hard on myself. It sounds surprising, and maybe it is, but I really think I did! I’ve definitely learned to loosen up over the years.

It’s tough on yourself when you don’t allow for mistakes or see things as simply right or wrong. Life is full of nuance, and I’ve learned that through experience.

I’ve experienced both incredible successes and difficult times, just like everyone else. I’m a normal person in that regard, and it’s important to remember that.

I’ve always been a curious person and tried to understand things. I think that curiosity has really helped me through both the good and bad times in my life.

After her divorce, I was so thrilled to see Lulu find love again with the amazing John Frieda! But things got complicated when she briefly became involved with David Bowie, who was absolutely huge at the time – a total icon of the 70s. It was a really turbulent time for her, and I worried about how it would affect her relationship with John.

She described her connection with Bowie as a short-lived romance, acknowledging that her wife, Frieda, was aware of it and it caused problems.

Lulu invited her former husband, Gibb, to perform with her on her ITV special, ‘An Audience With Lulu.’ They shared the stage in 2003, just a year before Gibb passed away.

I had a feeling he was going to go through with it, and he did. Maurice was a genuinely kind person, and I didn’t want to involve him, but I did. Looking back, I’m glad it happened because it really resonated with people.

They noticed a softer, more sensitive side to him, and to our connection. It was also a meaningful opportunity for me to celebrate Maurice as an individual, separate from his brothers, and I’m truly grateful I was able to do so.

You know, it really meant a lot to me when I heard Yvonne Gibb – Barry’s brother’s wife – tell Linda, Barry’s wife, that she felt it all worked out for the best. It felt like everything had come full circle, and honestly, it gave me a sense of peace.

She explained that when relationships end, people often leave things unsaid, fail to fully explain their feelings, or experience confusion and misunderstandings. She felt this conversation helped bring closure to the situation.

He was really happy to be on the show with me because he usually felt like the least important of the three of us. It gave him the respect he deserved, you know?
