As a fervent admirer of resilience and fortitude, I am deeply moved by the indomitable spirit of Louise Thompson. Her life, marked by unwavering courage and tenacity, serves as a beacon of hope for those grappling with health challenges.

In a heartfelt message, Louise Thompson shared her harrowing experience rushing to the hospital, expressing her hope that she will make it back home in time for her son Leo’s birthday.

The celebrity from Made In Chelsea experienced another health issue, requiring urgent surgery followed by a severe infection known as septic shock.

For the past fortnight, she’s been admitted at the hospital, accompanied by her partner, Ryan Libbey. In the latest installment of their podcast, He Said, She Said, he shared insights about their recent ordeal.

Louise recently shared an Instagram message, informing her audience that the world seems a tad unfair towards her once more.

The star shared a photo of Ryan placing a sunshine balloon at the end of her bed as she told her followers: ‘It’s World kindness day. The world feels like it’s been a bit unkind to me again.’

She added that she hopes to be home soon, especially as it her son Leo’s third birthday on November 15.

Today marks a fresh start, and ideally, it leads me home. Unfortunately, I must confess that I’ve been confined in a hospital, feeling quite unwell. The word ‘unwell’ seems to echo the weakness and fragility associated with aging illness.

As a woman of just 34 years old, yet carrying the wisdom and resilience of a grandma, I often find myself blowing metaphorical bubbles with my words, much like a grandma does with her physical ones. It may seem peculiar, even sickly to some, but it’s a testament to my life experiences that have left me feeling this way.

Louise confessed, “At this moment, I’m nearly ashamed, but there’s hope,” as she expressed gratitude towards the hospital staff, her friends, and family for their care.

‘Although I had surgery, the drains (such as butt drains, catheters, stoma, and the dreaded Pigtail drain), numerous cannulas, and endless blood tests have left me feeling like a zombie. I can’t help but wish I had accepted that picc line. Yet, amidst all this, there has been an abundance of kindness everywhere.’

Due to the unsettling experience of having numerous unfamiliar items within me, I’ve found myself quite apprehensive. Remarkably, I’ve been able to move despite carrying so much baggage at one time.

‘I ended up with a tail-like extension sewn onto my body, making me feel like some sort of creature with numerous appendages or tubes – it turns out that such medical equipment is sometimes called an “octopus” due to its multiple entry points. It seems that remarkable connections were made between my conscious and subconscious mind, or perhaps I merely recalled a past association.’

Oh, what a relief to have powerful painkillers, mainly opioids, helping me navigate through tough times. How grateful I am for the humble poppy plant and the advancements in science and modern medicine that make this possible.

Let’s return to the essential point: compassion. There have been numerous individuals, whose extraordinary acts of kindness, have helped me immensely. I am not just talking about kindness here, but something far beyond it.

As a devoted admirer, let me express that your benevolence is nothing short of angelic. Encountering individuals like you makes one pause and wish for the same degree of kindness, for you truly embody an exceptional level of generosity. You consistently go above and beyond to aid others, making you a shining example of selflessness and a truly precious gift bestowed by fate.

It’s truly astounding to find individuals who possess such an extraordinary charm. To be honest, I didn’t mean ‘charming’. What I meant was ‘warm’, deeply warm. Because being warm surpasses being charming. The world is indeed a more pleasant place because of people like you.

‘My faith in humanity is actually at an all time high right now.’

On the podcast episode from Wednesday, Ryan shared about hastily taking his partner to the emergency room due to severe stomach pain she was experiencing.

Over the weekend, I visited my family in Devon and upon my return, I found my housemate, Louise, writhing in agony at our shared residence with Leo in London.

By dawn, she had reached her limit and Ryan hastily took her to the emergency room. A couple of hours passed, and eventually, she found herself on the operating table.

Louise recently had surgery in the region of her abdomen where she’s been healing since early this year, following her stoma operation. This development came as a surprise, as Ryan shared with his audience.

After the surgery, she developed severe complications that led to septic shock, demonstrating just how serious her condition had become. (Ryan’s explanation was essentially saying the same thing.)

Ryan assured everyone that his fiancee is on the mend, having been discharged from the intensive care unit. However, he admitted that the harrowing experience has left an impact on them both.

He remarked, “She seems to be at her limit. It’s truly disheartening; it feels like all my energy and hope are being drained away.

Since the arrival of Leo in November 2021, Louise, Sam Thompson’s older sibling, has been grappling with a string of health complications.

She recently published her book Lucky which details her health battles over the past three years.

Back in early April, I couldn’t help but share with my Instagram family that I’ve been equipped with a stoma bag. It’s not something I ever wished to keep hidden from you all forever, but rather, something I choose to embrace openly.

Previously, the TV figure has openly discussed her persistent battles with ulcerative colitis, a bowel disorder, and lupus, an autoimmune illness.

As a steadfast advocate for health awareness, I find myself compelled to share insights about a persistent issue affecting many – ulcerative colitis. This is a long-term inflammation of the large intestine and rectum, which often leads to tiny sores or ulcers on the inner lining of the colon that might even bleed. Unfortunately, there’s no known cure for this condition, but with patience and proper management, it can be controlled effectively.
