Lorraine Kelly, 64, slams women who have Botox and ‘ruin their face’ with fillers: ‘I will never go under the knife’
As a woman who has watched my own face transform over the years due to cosmetic enhancements, I must say I find myself deeply moved by the stories of Molly-Mae Hague and Faye Winter. Their journeys from glamour to natural beauty serve as a poignant reminder that sometimes less is more.
Lorraine Kelly has expressed her disapproval towards cosmetic surgeries and criticized those who opt for Botox injections, stating that they might be damaging their natural beauty.
The television host, aged 64, who once stated that she would never undergo cosmetic procedures, expressed her desire for women to embrace their wrinkles more wholeheartedly. She also opines that younger females typically don’t require such treatments.
In an interview with Woman’s Own Magazine, Lorraine expressed her opinion that more and more women are undergoing surgeries at increasingly young ages, stating that a 19-year-old girl is not suitable for Botox treatments.
Many women have overdone cosmetic enhancements, leading to unnatural appearances. Personally, I find myself content with how I look, and I don’t see the need for surgical alterations.
‘I like my laughter lines – a much nicer way of saying wrinkles.’
The Scottish television show presenter additionally asserted that she dislikes how women often feel unhappy whenever they gaze at their reflections, which she instead described as “each line and wrinkle tells its own unique tale.
Lorraine expressed that while everyone has the freedom to decide whether they want cosmetic work or not, she yearns for a world where we all embrace ourselves a bit more and accept the natural aging process.
Under the name Botox, you’ll find botulinum toxin – a type of neurotoxin. It’s utilized for treating multiple health issues and, on a temporary basis, minimizing the visibility of wrinkles.
In a variety of cosmetic treatments, Botox is often administered to areas like the forehead, eye surroundings, and neck. Its purpose is to momentarily lessen the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing the muscles beneath the skin.
Besides being popular for cosmetic purposes, Botox is also utilized in treating various medical conditions like persistent migraines, Cervical dystonia (a neurological issue causing involuntary contractions in the neck and shoulder muscles), among others.
Previously, Botox and lip fillers were considered essential treatments for those aiming to minimize wrinkles while achieving a plump, celebrity-style lip look.
However, reports from last year indicate a potential shift in sentiment among the British population, as they seem to be losing interest in undergoing injectable anti-aging treatments.
2023 data showed that the UK experienced a 7.5% decrease in the number of cosmetic facial surgeries carried out by plastic surgeons compared to the year prior.
Famous personalities from the world of glamour and reality TV are frequently pointed out as sparking the desire among women for both Botox injections and dermal fillers.
But now they are leading a trend dubbed the ‘make-under’ movement.
Love Island personalities Molly-Mae Hague and Faye Winter have showcased striking changes after having their fillers removed, leaving many speechless.
Undoubtedly, these accounts of remorse from Britons about their cosmetic injections serve as a cautionary tale for others in Britain, potentially dissuading them from similar procedures.
However, some young British individuals might continue to obtain these treatments from less expensive, unregulated facilities. This could lead to remorseful situations down the line, as they may lack the resources to rectify any issues that arise.
Both Botox and lip fillers aren’t long-lasting treatments, but it’s important to note that the cost for Botox may reach as high as £350, whereas the expense for lip fillers could go up to an approximately £700, depending on the specifics of the procedure such as its extent and location.
As a lifestyle enthusiast speaking from personal experience, I, much like influencer Molly-Mae, once found myself gratefully acknowledging the opportunity to address the excess of cosmetic enhancements I had made to my visage. Having gained prominence on the popular reality dating show Love Island, I was reminded of the transformative power these choices held for me – and the importance of embracing self-improvement with a mindful approach.
At the age of 25, it was at 18 that she had her lips enhanced for the first time. She described this action as initiating a ‘repeating cycle’ or ‘continuous process’ of enhancing the procedure further.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I personally decided to take the plunge and have my dermal fillers dissolved back in 2020, a choice I made with full transparency considering I share custody of Bambi, my daughter, with my ex-fiancé, Tommy Fury.
In May 2022, Molly-Mae stated that she appeared to be five years younger following the removal of her lip and jaw fillers.
fellow contestant Faye on Love Island has likewise expressed her remorse concerning her past use of cosmetic facial injections, stating that she believed she had “overdone it” with the lip fillers and ended up feeling like she had damaged her facial features.
She remarked that they had grown incredibly large… the only thing visible on my face were my prominent lips,” she stated.
Due to having large teeth inherited from my father and small lips that didn’t adequately showcase them, I chose to get a filler treatment to create a more balanced appearance.
At the age of 29, she admitted that her relatives cautioned her about overindulging, but it wasn’t until she witnessed herself on television that the truth became clear to her.
She mentioned that it was only when she watched herself on the screen, engaging in talks with others, and not striking poses or gazing at mirrors, that she realized it.
‘It’s common knowledge that our appearance changes when we’re posing in a mirror. I felt like I had severely distorted my features.’
As she recorded the procedure for the filler being broken down, she confessed that she felt too self-conscious to reveal the initial outcomes.
She mentioned that it was challenging for her to notice her lips appeared quite shriveled, resembling a flaccid balloon due to the stretching.
Previously, Faye had shared that due to the 4.5ml of filler she’d had injected, her lips became over-extended. When the filler was dissolved, there was a lack of flexibility or elasticity in her lips, so a small amount of additional filler was needed to restore it.
While appearing on Love Island, the reality television personality shared an experience where she underwent a poorly done Botox treatment, resulting in her eyebrows drooping.
