As a seasoned League of Legends analyst with years of experience under my belt, I must say that yesterday’s matches between MAD Lions KOI and PSG Talon were quite intriguing. From my perspective, it seems like MAD Lions KOI demonstrated a more consistent performance in their games against MDK, while PSG struggled to recover after initial setbacks.

One more step was needed for MAD Lions KOI and PSG Talon to qualify for the Swiss Stage.

At the League of Legends World Championship 2024 (LoL Worlds 2024), it’s high time for MAD Lions KOI and PSG Talon to show their worth. One team has been dominating their region, while the other often falls short, barely reaching the top 3 in their local competitions. However, in this global stage, past performances should be forgotten. This clash between them could either solidify their initial success or plant seeds of doubt among the players.

All the details concerning the Play-In match between MDK and PSG are provided here, including streaming information, lists of League of Legends champions, a summary of the previous game, as well as some background on both teams.

Match recap: MDK vs PSG

In a similar fashion to their last game, PSG appeared rather unsteady, committing errors on the Summoner’s Rift and possibly even during the drafting phase. Conversely, MDK displayed a more consistent performance – although they too didn’t always have smooth sailing.

As a passionate spectator, it seemed like the first two games got swapped between the teams, leaving me on the edge of my seat, unsure which way they’d go. The battles were neck-and-neck, but a tiny edge here and there propelled MDK and PSG forward. They stormed ahead with decisive objectives and eliminations, eventually annihilating the Nexus in the end.

In the heat of Game 3, I found myself on edge as my team, MDK, took Aurora up top against PSG. We were relentless in our pursuit, constantly closing the gap between us and their players, effectively isolating them from their fellow teammates. Our victories, it seemed, were largely due to missteps by PSG, particularly with regards to positioning and over-aggression. Could this be a consequence of the lofty expectations raised by their impressive performance at MSI 2024?

MDK won this series, and they are the first team to proceed to the LoL Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage.

It wasn’t overly challenging for me during the Play-In phase. To be honest, our team was clearly superior to the others in terms of skill level at this stage. Granted, our performance wasn’t up to par today, but I’m pleased that we managed to make it through to the Swiss round…

PSG fell to the lower brackets. They will play the decider match on Sept. 29.

In the forthcoming games, we aim to enhance our teamwork in fights since we’ve been losing many skirmishes during today’s encounter. Moreover, it’s crucial that we excel in the early stages of the game too.

Azhi

Game 1

In Game 1, PSG started off strongly, not with any grandiose actions, but by meticulously positioning their champions. However, MDK disrupted this strategy with a well-executed team fight. Although it seemed to throw PSG off balance, they are an experienced squad and managed to react effectively in various scenarios. Yet, the initial plan seemed to unravel, and despite their efforts, PSG didn’t fully regain their footing.

Following an impressive team skirmish with PSG, they managed to secure a few kills and pursued the remaining members of PSG. However, when Azhi successfully cornered the MDK players, he found himself at a disadvantage. Overeager in their pursuit, PSG ended up losing the entire battle.

As a gamer, I was mindful of reckless attacks. Instead, I opted for a calculated strategy that led to an outstanding battle, leaving PSG’s Nexus in shambles. In the end, my team and I emerged victorious from that game.

Game 2

On this occasion, rather than squandering their early lead, PSG managed to extend it even further. Much of this success can be attributed to Maple’s exceptional performance on Ahri. Meanwhile, MDK found it difficult to evade the cleverly set traps and challenge for objectives.

In the crucial moments, the European squad found themselves outmatched, allowing their rivals to dominate team engagements with such ease it seemed like a surefire win for them. MDK displayed exceptional positioning and robust defense around their base, but ultimately, they were ousted in another skirmish. PSG then restored balance by scoring an equalizer.

Game 3

Reflecting on the past, it seems that PSG’s choices in players were missteps. LeBlanc from Maple didn’t perform well when matched against MDK’s team composition. Additionally, selecting Corki against the latest champion, Aurora, wasn’t particularly effective.

In a significant manner, MDK effectively pursued and eliminated their adversaries, which played a key role during the mid-game by placing them at a disadvantage, capturing objectives, and subsequently amplifying their champion’s growth.

During the game, PSG made some uncalled-for errors in their positioning, which resulted in several lost team battles and even the loss of two inhibitors. After a brief pause, MAD Lions KOI overpowered them, demolishing their Nexus, claiming victory, and advancing to the Swiss Stage.

MAD Lions KOI and PSG Talon: Different backgrounds, one goal

Beyond just boasting varying degrees of success within their local areas, these squads also display distinct patterns when competing in their initial League of Legends Worlds 2024 games. What truly sets them apart is their capacity to maintain a singular concentration on a single objective.

MAD Lions KOI comfortably beat Vikings Esports, the second Vietnamese team, in a series that wasn’t entirely one-sided. The VKE players showcased their daring creativity throughout both matches, but ultimately, many will recall just the final scoreline: 2-0, with MDK emerging victorious.

As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but feel a surge of emotion as we march forward – and it’s crucial that this energy doesn’t wane. The reason? The LoL World 2024 is taking place on our home turf! A single triumph for MAD Lions KOI will propel us into the Swiss Stage, carrying an aura of success with us. G2 and FNC are eagerly awaiting our arrival, but it’s later battles in the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) where we’ll face them, aiming to shatter the top 3 curse that’s been hanging over us.

PSG Talon has been reigning supreme in the Pacific Championship Series (PCS). Occasional 2nd or 3rd place finishes won’t tarnish their standing, or likely their spirits. Placing among the top 8 at the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2024 is also a significant accomplishment.

In the initial match of LoL Worlds 2024, things didn’t go quite as planned for PSG. They went up against PNG, who were widely favored due to being from Taiwan. Game 1 was a real debacle for PSG, but they managed to regain their footing, and if they can secure a fantastic comeback victory in the next game, it would be a truly delightful outcome for them.
