As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the news of the upcoming sequel to the beloved Disney classic Freaky Friday is nothing short of exhilarating! The original 2003 film, starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, was a timeless tale that resonated with audiences worldwide. Now, nearly two decades later, we get to revisit these iconic characters in what promises to be an even more ‘freakier’ adventure.

Nearly twenty-five years since Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis appeared together in Disney’s remake of Freaky Friday, they are now contemplating reprising their roles for a follow-up film.

2003 marked the release of a movie that served as a reinterpretation, following the 1976 film version based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 book with the same title. Starring in this remake were Barbara Harris and a youthful Jodie Foster.

In the next installment of this intriguing tale, we find ourselves delving deeper into the world of “Freaky Friday” once more, where Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis return to embody the characters, Anna and Tess, who have swapped bodies after discovering a magical Chinese fortune cookie.

38-year-old Lindsay Lohan and 65-year-old Curtis recently had a chat with IMDb about the upcoming sequel, which is being filmed as we speak. On Wednesday, Lohan was seen sitting on an L.A. set.

In a conversation, they hinted at reconnecting with nearly all their cast members from the 2003 film, implying that it won’t just be them exchanging roles.

For quite some time now, fans have been speculating about a potential sequel, and both Lohan and Curtis have openly advocated for it. Eventually, Disney officially confirmed the sequel in May.

When queried about her request for a sequel from Disney, Curtis stated that she nearly demanded they produce it instead.

“I might’ve given the impression that I was requesting it, but I believe what I actually communicated was more of a necessity – a need for another installment, if you catch my drift,” I playfully teased.

It appears that Curtis admitted, “I must say, I’ve seen many years and worked in numerous places, but wherever I go, the film everyone seems curious about is ‘Freaky Friday.'”

Since I had numerous projects on my plate, it was ‘Freaky Friday’ that everyone was keen on. Upon my return from the world tour, I phoned Disney, expressing my opinion that we should produce ‘Freaky Friday’. And here we are!

As a die-hard enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement! The production of this highly anticipated project kicked off in June and, oh boy, have I been eagerly awaiting this moment! With a 2025 release date set by Disney, it’s as if the rhythm of anticipation has never stopped for me. In fact, listening to Lohan talk about the production, she captures my sentiments perfectly when she says, ‘It feels like a rhythm that never stopped.’

She even confirmed that Tess’ band from the 2003 film – Pink Slip – will return, stating, ‘Pink Slip is returning in full force with a lot of love in their hearts. And it’s so much fun. And it feels like the band never left each other.’

Lohan did tease there is a ‘new song in this that is really beautiful.’

Although they didn’t reveal many details, Lohan hinted that the sequel will offer a balanced mix of humor and eeriness.

Curtis commented, ‘The film is scarier in every way. It’s funnier, with increased physical humor, and the plot twists are more unsettling.’

She added that returning co-stars Mark Harmon and Chad Michael Murray are also, ‘freakier,’ This one has more swapping.”

Curtis playfully hinted, “I can’t reveal to you how I remember my character, but there’s a unique method I use. However, you won’t find out until you watch the movie or when we start promoting it. Then, you’ll learn much more about the film.”
