Flexion and King team up to launch global hit Candy Crush Saga on alternative app stores
As someone who has spent countless hours swiping, matching, and crushing candies since the dawn of Candy Crush Saga, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgic excitement at the news that King’s hit puzzle game is now available on alternative app stores like Huawei App Gallery, Samsung Galaxy Store, Xiaomi GetApps, and ONE store.
Mobile Flexion, a well-known gaming marketing firm, has teamed up with King to unveil their popular puzzle game, Candy Crush Saga, on various other app markets besides Apple Stores and Google Play. The beloved game, Candy Crush Saga, is now accessible through the Huawei App Gallery, Samsung Galaxy Store, Xiaomi GetApps, and ONE store, in addition to its existing availability on these platforms.
The app stores marketplace is decentralizing and more games are expected to extend their availability to alternative app stores
Over time, the marketplace, once controlled primarily by Apple Store and Google Play, has experienced structural shifts. More recently, a law was passed in the EU that compelled Apple to allow users to install apps from outside their official store (side-loading) and use alternative app markets. Japan followed this trend, also mandating Apple to permit side loading and third-party apps within their region. As a result, new platforms such as Aptoide emerged, fostering competition in the industry.
Flexion Mobile has a track record of assisting developers in releasing their games on various platforms. In the past, they’ve collaborated with multiple developers to debut titles such as Hill Climb Racing 2, Monopoly Go!, and King of Avalon, among others. Now, Candy Crush can be included in that roster, even though it already has a substantial audience and fanbase. With Flexion’s marketing services, the game should adapt smoothly to alternative app stores.
Jens Lauritzson, Flexion’s CEO, expressed his joy that King decided to partner with Flexion. It’s a privilege for us to assist in expanding King’s globally acclaimed mobile game to additional app markets. Our strategy offers King a hassle-free, reliable, and risk-minimized method to tap into these alternative platforms, ultimately boosting their revenue and player base for their highly successful game.

As the market grows, developers of both established and up-and-coming intellectual properties are eagerly seeking new opportunities to distribute their games on alternative app stores. Given Flexion’s track record of successfully launching popular titles on these alternative platforms, it wouldn’t surprise me if they release even more high-value IPs like Candy Crush Saga onto different platforms in the near future.
