Lily Collins to play Audrey Hepburn in film about making of ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’

Lily Collins is ready for her reservation at Tiffany’s.

A new movie is being made about the creation of the iconic 1961 film, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” and an actor will portray Audrey Hepburn. The film is based on the book “Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.” by Sam Wasson, which details the making of the movie and Hepburn’s role as a modern icon, as reported by Variety.

Collins will produce the film, and Alena Smith, known for creating the Apple TV+ show “Dickinson,” will write the screenplay.

Collins posted on Instagram about her long-time love for Audrey and revealed the project has been in the works for nearly a decade.

“Honored and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel,” Collins wrote.

I absolutely adore “Breakfast at Tiffany’s!” It’s based on a beautiful story by Truman Capote, and the movie just brings it to life. It centers around Holly Golightly, played brilliantly by Audrey Hepburn, and her connection with a writer named Paul Varjak, who becomes her neighbor. It was a huge success back then, earning five Academy Award nominations, and Audrey Hepburn herself was even nominated for an Oscar for her performance!

Variety reports the new film will focus on the making of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” revealing Truman Capote’s preference for Marilyn Monroe in the lead role instead of Audrey Hepburn. The movie will also feature Blake Edwards (the director), Edith Head (the costume designer), and Capote himself as characters, though the actors playing them haven’t been revealed yet.

Lily Collins is famous for her role in the Netflix series “Emily in Paris” and for appearing in films like “The Blind Side,” “Love, Rosie,” and “To the Bone.” She’ll be a producer on her new movie through her production company, Case Study Films, working with Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment.
