Liam and Noel Gallagher reunite for a rare outing together as they celebrate Manchester City’s Carabao Cup final win at Wembley

Liam and Noel Gallagher, who famously fronted the band Oasis, put aside their differences to publicly celebrate Manchester City’s victory in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Fifteen years ago, Oasis broke up due to the well-known, difficult relationship between the two brothers. The split followed several fights, walk-offs, and arguments that often involved alcohol.

But last year, the group got back together and embarked on a massive world tour with 41 shows. Their first concert was a huge success, drawing over 70,000 people to Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

To help them reconnect, the couple went to Wembley Stadium in London to see Manchester City win against Arsenal with a score of 2–0.

The brothers were seen excitedly cheering for their team from a private box as they defeated the Gunners.

This follows Noel Gallagher’s kind words about his brother Liam when he won the Songwriter of the Year award at the 2026 BRIT Awards.

The Oasis rocker, 58, was honoured at the annual ceremony at the Co-op Live arena.

Even though Noel and Liam Gallagher have had a famously difficult relationship since Oasis broke up in 2009, Noel recently gave Liam, now 53, credit for the music they created together.

Noel Gallagher directly addressed the Manchester crowd, starting with thanks to his brother, as well as Bonehead, Guigsy, Andy, and Gem. He explained that without their contributions, he’d just be another unknown singer-songwriter.

The lead singer of The High Flying Birds was introduced by Pep Guardiola, the manager of his favorite soccer team, Manchester City. He then led a chant supporting City, which sparked a mixed reaction from the audience at the Co-Op Live Arena.

Noel added: ‘Up the f****** blues.’

Noel’s award sparked some debate because he hadn’t released any new music in two years. However, he firmly stated he wouldn’t tolerate any criticism about it.

Noel recently shared on talkSPORT that he hasn’t written a song in two years, and he’s surprised he’s been able to get by without doing so, but he’s happy about it.

The BRIT Awards seem to heavily rely on how many records an artist sells. And honestly, we sold a million records last year without even trying – I’m not sure many other songwriters can say the same.

If anyone has an issue with this, they can find me on the red carpet – we can discuss it right there.

If any of the eleven songwriting teams who collaborate on those products want to co-write a song and debut it publicly, I’m definitely interested in being involved.

Noel said he’s been working on new music and is excited the BRIT Awards are coming to Manchester for the first time – he feels really honored to be a part of it.

He mentioned being in the studio and feeling pressure to release something new quickly. He admitted the reason he was asked to perform seemed to be simply because he was from the band Oasis and the event was in Manchester.

The band had experienced many arguments since becoming famous in the 1990s, but fans were heartbroken when a fight backstage in Paris caused them to split up in 2009.

Noel announced at the time, ‘I’m both sad and relieved to let you know that I’ve left Oasis tonight.’

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I couldn’t have continued working with Liam for even one more day.

A few days later, Noel released another statement called ‘Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere,’ explaining that the threats and harassment directed at him, his family, friends, and colleagues had become unacceptable.

Because my manager and bandmates haven’t offered the support I need, I’ve decided to leave and pursue other opportunities.

Since then, a heated and public rivalry developed between the brothers, marked by ongoing insults exchanged in interviews and on social media.

Fans were thrilled to see the siblings back together, but they were also concerned that the siblings’ ongoing conflict might cause them to cancel their performances.

Everyone was thrilled the tour was a complete success, and Christian finally answered the question everyone was wondering: were Liam and Noel getting along?

He confirmed that the interaction was genuine, describing it as a warm and sincere moment of forgiveness and a hopeful first step towards reconciliation. He emphasized that what viewers saw was authentic and heartfelt.

Noel and Liam’s representatives were contacted by the Daily Mail for comment.
