Fans of the Legend of Zelda series are known for being patient. Nintendo often takes its time with announcements, even for this major 40th anniversary, but now we finally have some real news!
Bandai Namco has announced (through Plaza Japan) a special release to celebrate the game’s 40th anniversary, and it appears it will include content from various eras of the franchise.
Zelda Is Celebrating Its 40th Anniversary in Style
The Set Is Lovely
To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Bandai Namco Candy is launching a collection of miniature Legend of Zelda weapons. These replicas, including several versions of the Master Sword, will be about the size of your hand and cost 450 yen each (before tax). They’re set to release in Japan on February 23, 2026, with a total of nine different weapon designs available.
This toy line includes weapons from previous games, but it’s mostly based on Breath of the Wild.
- Master Sword
- Hylian Shield
- Royal Claymore
- Silver Longsword
- Scimitar of the Seven
- Great Eagle Bow
- Boulder Breaker
- Ceremonial Trident
- [Rare] Master Sword (Sheathed Version]
These collectible figures are painted replicas of famous weapons and shields from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. They’re small enough to hold in your hand and made with incredible detail, making them perfect for collectors. Each figure comes with a display stand featuring the Zelda logo and a nameplate identifying the weapon. Currently, these nameplates are only printed in Japanese.
These are surprise products, sold at a lower price, with a rare version also available. A piece of gum is included to fit the candy theme. If you’re interested, you can buy the “weapon collection” directly from Bandai’s Premium store for 4,950, which includes 10 pieces.
I’m a big fan of these Bandai Namco figures, and from what I’ve seen, most collectors are really happy with how they look and feel – they make awesome additions to any collection! The only downside is, if you don’t live in Japan, it can take some effort to actually get your hands on them.
A Worldwide Release Has Yet To Be Confirmed
Zelda Merch Finds A Way
Okay, so Nintendo and Bandai Namco haven’t officially said if these will be released worldwide yet, but I’ve asked them for more info. Honestly, I’m pretty sure we can still get them by importing – a lot of stores ship those blind-box collectibles from Japan overseas. Just a heads-up though, it looks like the bigger 10-piece set is already sold out at some places, so stock might be limited if you go that route.
Fans of the Legend of Zelda series will immediately recognize many of these designs. Even weapons from Breath of the Wild are now iconic, considering that game came out almost a decade ago.
