Larry Emdur, host of Channel Seven’s The Morning Show, briefly left the show on Tuesday after accidentally making a mistake while on air.
During an interview with Jessica Mauboy about her new beauty line, Desert Rose, the well-known and playful Gold Logie winner, aged 61, made a humorous comment about having ‘four skins’.
Oh my gosh, it was mortifying… but hilarious! Larry was talking, and he almost said something… something a little too suggestive, you know? He instantly realized how it could sound and tried to backtrack, but it was too late! Mauboy and Kylie were absolutely losing it, just collapsing with laughter. I was dying too, honestly, even though I felt bad for Larry! It was a total on-air blunder, but a really funny one. I’ve rewatched that clip a million times!
Larry remarked how fortunate they were to work in television, explaining that they had ‘four takes’ after seeing the Desert Skin commercial starring Mauboy.
He then blurted out: ‘Five skins. Three skins. Do you know what I mean, layers?’
After a moment of uncomfortable silence, Larry attempted to regain control of the situation by asking Jessica to sing, but she couldn’t manage it because she was laughing uncontrollably.
Oh my gosh, things were getting a little awkward, so Kylie jumped in to quickly mention ‘Idol,’ which was so smart! Then she playfully said, ‘And you’ll never, ever see Larry Emdur again!’ It was such a funny line and totally lightened the mood. I was cracking up!
As Kylie signed off, Larry raced from the couch, trying to control a fit of embarrassed laughter.
Taking to his Instagram, Larry apologised to Jessica over his minced words.
‘I may have just been cancelled,’ he joked.
This is likely my last TV appearance. I truly didn’t mean to say anything offensive – I only realized I’d messed up when I saw Kylie Gillies giving me a stern look. I’m pretty thick-skinned, thankfully! Jessica, I’m so incredibly sorry – I really care about you.
Larry’s fans were quick to appreciate the humour in the situation.
One fan commented on Larry’s post that it gets funnier with every rewatch. Another said that even attempting to change the number made the post even more hilarious, adding that they loved Larry’s content.
You know, I’ve heard from a lot of people, and one thing keeps coming up: Larry is just genuinely funny! People really can’t help but laugh when he’s around. And it’s not just him – he and Kylie are a hilarious duo. They really know how to make people smile, and honestly, that’s a wonderful quality!
For 18 years on The Morning Show, Larry has been known for his surprising and often unexpected behavior on air.
Last September, he left Kylie red-faced after performing a strip during a cooking segment.
A long-time presenter from Channel Seven and their colleague teamed up with celebrity chef George Mirosevich to make a delicious chicken recipe.
Seeing George switch to a simple t-shirt, Larry did the same. He took off his blue blazer, rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt, and unbuttoned a few buttons to be more comfortable and avoid getting food on his clothes.
‘Can I do sexy pineapple?’ Larry asked George, prompting Kylie to finally intervene.
She said a firm ‘no!’ which made Larry and George burst out laughing as the show ended.
I absolutely love watching Larry and Kylie on the breakfast show! They’ve become famous for their witty back-and-forth – it’s always good for a laugh. Their playful banter is seriously one of the best parts of my morning!
