Kylie Minogue is expected to earn around $3 million for performing during the half-time show at this year’s AFL Grand Final.
The popular singer, 57, is scheduled to perform at the 100,000-seat Melbourne Cricket Ground on September 26th, and the concert is expected to be sold out.
Kylie is expected to play a 20-minute set before her hometown fans and a TV audience of millions.
New Idea magazine recently reported that Kylie received a large sum of money after the Australian Football League admitted they had long hoped to work with her.
The hitmaker’s management is yet to confirm Kylie’s fee for the high-profile sporting event.
Since 2023, the Big Dance has consistently attracted over 4 million TV viewers, with the 2023 game between the Brisbane Lions and Geelong Cats drawing an impressive 6.4 million fans.
Last month, the singer behind the hit song ‘Padum Padum’ enthusiastically agreed to perform at the AFL Grand Final, to be held at Melbourne’s famous MCG.

Snoop Dogg, the famous American rapper, performed at the 2025 AFL Grand Final, sharing the stage with Australian musicians Tash Sultana and Baker Boy.
The 2024 event featured a fantastic lineup of stars, including headliner Katy Perry, plus Tina Arena, Cody Simpson, and Christine Anu.
Kylie’s performance at the AFL Grand Final is a dream come true for fans who’ve been asking for Australian artists to headline the half-time show.
Still, one mystery remains: which team does she barrack for?
The singer, who was born in Melbourne, is thrilled to be performing before the game at the MCG in September.
The actress, known for her role on Neighbours, hasn’t revealed her favorite football club, but she’s hinted at supporting several teams.
In 2014, Minogue said she had a soft spot for more than one club.
She explained she gets her sporting loyalties from her mother, who supports several teams. She said this after receiving a Geelong jersey at a fan event.
‘My brother is a staunch Bombers supporter and my sister’s little boy is Hawthorn.
‘But I’m Geelong today.’
Kylie Minogue has connections to the Lions football club, having performed at a fundraising event for the Fitzroy Football Club in 1986.
Some performances haven’t been well-received, most notably Meat Loaf’s 2011 appearance, which is often remembered as one of the worst in Grand Final history.
Last year’s selection of Snoop Dogg to perform before the game caused controversy because of lyrics in his songs that have been criticized as disrespectful to women and homophobic.
The news led to support from people in the entertainment world, including former Richmond player Matthew Richardson, for the Save Our Arts campaign. This campaign advocated for Australian artists to perform at the Grand Final entertainment.
Kylie started her music career in the late 1980s and has become a hugely successful artist, selling over 80 million records globally. She’s topped the Australian album charts nine times and has received numerous awards, including 18 ARIA Awards and two Grammys.
